Mark Meadows, who as chief of staff to President Donald Trump promoted his lies of mass voter fraud, is facing increasing scrutiny about his own voter registration status.
Public records show that he is registered to vote in two states, including North Carolina, where he listed a mobile home he did not own — and may never have visited — as his legal residence weeks before casting a ballot in the 2020 presidential election.
Critics contend that Meadows' voter registration status suggest the former North Carolina congressman may have committed voter fraud himself. A spokesperson for Meadows did not respond to a message seeking comment on Wednesday.
Meadows listed a mobile home in Scaly Mountain, North Carolina, as his physical address on Sept. 19, 2020, while he was serving as Trump's chief of staff in Washington. Meadows later cast an absentee ballot for the general election by mail. Trump won the battleground state by just over 1 percentage point.
The North Carolina Board of Elections declined to comment on the specifics of the situation, offering only a general statement: “The State Board of Elections investigates credible allegations of violations of election laws in North Carolina. When warranted by evidence, the State Board refers cases to district attorneys or U.S. Attorney’s offices for further investigation or prosecution at their discretion.”
Meanwhile, public records show that Meadows registered to vote in Alexandria, Virginia, almost exactly one year after he registered in Scaly Mountain and just weeks before Virginia's high-profile governor's election last fall. Republican Glenn Youngkin won the Democratic-leaning state by just under 2 percentage points.

How often is it allowed to change your residence? For a long time it was 30 days (so one year is allowable). Now a number of states have same-day registration.

and even if you own real property you may declare a mobile home as primary residence.

Local news stations are even worse than NPR. Of course they are not worse than AP. Even Pravda is less bias than AP.
This is classic Fake News, and a perfect example of how the media lies while printing facts but lies by leaving out other very relevant facts. Meadows sold his old home in his old congressional district and purchased a tract of land in a high-end mountain resort area in the same congressional district. Homes in the new area sell for a $million plus. His new parcel also contained a dwelling which was NOT a mobile home, though certainly not a million dollar house. Perfectly legally, he transferred his voting registration to the new location. Meadows also owns a home in Washington DC where he lived while working in the Trump administration.
The dates when all these transactions were not given but are irrelevant. Everything was done perfectly legally. It is very likely that the existing dwelling will be torn down as a new one is built. Meadows should be commended for keeping his local roots rather than permanently joining the leeches in Washington DC.
It's perfectly legal, it's up to you to decide if it's acceptable to you.
In most cases, the opposite is done. For starters, it's nearly impossible to completely avoid property taxes since you simply can't hide property, and its ownership is always registered. Many states have a lower property tax on one's permanent home called a 'homestead exemption'. People often attempt to declare the property with the HIGHEST tax as the one deserving the homestead exemption. There are many safeguards in place to prevent people from declaring more than one such exemption. It's very costly to get caught doing this.

We are quickly approaching “Catch-22” territory.
The fact that someone actually wants to get into politics, makes me question their sanity.
