And what security guarantees does Israel have that Syria/Egypt/Jordan/Lebanon won’t invade...
Seems to me if tiny Israel can share borders with simmering foes without guarantees, Russia and Ukraine can pull it off. It’s less a matter of “can they” than it is of “will they.”

The coup in Kiev should be happy with what they grabbed, and call it a day. People in the east and Crimea didn’t support the coup and by the same right as the coup, they grabbed their own areas.

These sound ok to me.
Sigh - you might be surprised to find that I agree with you about German hubris. On paper Germany in 1940 was pretty much unbeatable. Hitler’s insanity and insistence on controlling the war himself and the lack of materials hastened their demise.
Ukraine has been attacking those regions for years. Tens of thousands killed but of course we never hear that from our deep state controlled media.

Russia pushed vast amounts of money and personnel into eastern Ukraine to start a separatist movement. My wife is a Russian speaker from there and a proud Ukrainian. The violence was started by the Putinistas that you cheer on.
Ukraine has no real chance of entering NATO. And it has a long way to go to meet the criteria for joining the EU.
The Russians will never give up Crimea given its strategic importance militarily.
The separatist Eastern provinces have been virtually autonomous after 8 years of fighting.
Sounds like the basis of a deal. Zelensky could agree contingent upon some concessions from Russia so both parties have a face saving way to exit the war.
