The White House on Sunday rejected the argument that increasing domestic oil production would help lower gas prices, as the cost of oil moves toward record highs.
Crude oil prices rose as high as $130.50 a barrel on Sunday evening.
White House press secretary Jen Psaki released a set of talking points on social media, arguing against a focus on boosting oil production in the United States.
“It’s a reminder that real energy security comes from reducing our dependence on fossil fuels,” Psaki wrote, noting that Russia’s continued invasion of Ukraine was causing a spike in oil prices.
President Joe Biden’s administration is exploring diplomatic shifts with oil producing countries including Saudi Arabia, Venezuela, and Iran, as Russia’s latest Ukrainian offensive has disrupted oil markets.
But Psaki argued the only way to truly be free from high gas prices was to stop using oil.

at least it’s not dipping onto the reserves, that we just might NEED, in the coming coming..
The goal of this administration is for you to be sitting at home, cold and hungry in the dark, praying for the government to save you.
“What is the word for that?”
Wickedness.
Psychopath Brandon strikes again!
if at this point, everyone got off their asses and did what the Framers suggested, we would drastically scale back those in charge, and not be pointed at 1984.
If we’re lucky. They have already proven that there is no consequence whatsoever for blatantly committing fraud.
I don’t think a problem like that gets better over time.
Omg, this is my mother. When I pointed this out to her, she said she didn’t vote for high gas prices, she voted against Trump.
So you voted for Biden
Whose policies guaranteed high gas prices
So we got high gas prices
But you didn’t vote for high gas prices, there’s no connection
It reminds me of material I've read concerning people who belong to cults. They refuse to study objectively. They can't even listen to truth.
I had a study with two Mormon "missionaries." One of them was the spokesperson. He'd say his thing. I'd say my thing (about the history, errors, sins of Mormonism), but during the dialogue, the other young man began to ask questions, as if he'd never heard any truth concerning their cult. I answered them and when our time was up, we scheduled another appointment.
I showed up at the next appointment and the inquisitive missionary was not there. There was another in his place. I later learned this is SOP for Mormons. When a "missionary" starts asking questions, the other missionary reports him and (the inquisitive missionary) is recalled for more indoctrination.
I'm telling you, liberals are every bit as brainwashed as the religious cultists, and that's why I have little hope for the Republic. Maybe God has different plans, but I wouldn't know anything about that.
Fear not there is a gas generator in the back of the tank to keep the rolling rolling...................
Q: What is your plan for fueling airliners, home heating, chemical products, fertilizer, boats, trains, trucks...etc?”
When is the GOP-e going to get off their butt and ask these questions?
That’s the only way they can rake in the kick-backs and fill their pockets.
