SpaceX's Starlink was told by some governments to block Russian news sources from Starlink.
On Saturday, Elon Musk tweeted the company will not do so "unless at gunpoint."
Musk had previously shared concerns over Starlink systems being targeted in Ukraine.
SpaceX's Elon Musk tweeted on Saturday that Starlink was told by some governments to block Russian news sources.
Musk said on Twitter: "Starlink has been told by some governments (not Ukraine) to block Russian news sources."
"We will not do so unless at gunpoint," he added. "Sorry to be a free speech absolutist."

Our Deep State scares me far more than Putin.
Good for him. We have our own propaganda machine. Our MSM and even our government is as untrustworthy as any.
Good for him!
Not that I want Russia to succeed, but this censorship crap is way more worrying.
The governments in the west are far worse dictators and anti free speech than Putin.
And Musk just keeps getting better.
Real freedom of the press!
Elon knows information wants to be free!
RE: “Our Deep State scares me far more than Putin.”
I must agree. The scariest part for me it continues to grow month after month, year after year. Like a beehive, with all the ‘worker bees’ continually working to fed & protect the Queen. Sad thing is, in the Deep State, the Queen is...The Deep State.
The Ukraine and Zelinsky have deep roots in the NWO corrupt Deep State, Putin not at all, the enemy of my enemy is my friend.
The same insane, crazy leftists who for decades shouted “Free speech!” in order to force their deranged filth and porno onto the public square (anybody remember the leftist “art” where they dipped a crucifix in urine and demanded we pay for it because “free speech”), are the same one now using the power of government to shut down all opinions and viewpoints other than their own.
These are very scary times folks. The leftist controlled government is communist.
The Ukrainian leadership is corrupt as hell. But the people are fighting like dogs against real long odds.
Also, you don’t censor what you don’t like...thats real deep statish too.
We are in deep trouble in this country
That’s it, I’M BUYING A TESLA. I may never drive the thing, but I owe Musk something for defending the First Amendment.
Trustworthy government is harder than war. It takes more than a pile of arms and pile of highly motivated people, it takes forethought, attention to detail and decades of effort.
“The Ukraine and Zelinsky have deep roots in the NWO corrupt Deep State, Putin not at all, the enemy of my enemy is my friend.”
Watch out, you’ll trigger the Bidenistas with a comment like that.
Absolutely agree...and getting deeper by the hour, I fear.
And this is precisely why Elon will not do it…
“The same insane, crazy leftists who for decades shouted “Free speech!” in order to force their deranged filth and porno onto the public square (anybody remember the leftist “art” where they dipped a crucifix in urine and demanded we pay for it because “free speech”), are the same one now using the power of government to shut down all opinions and viewpoints other than their own.”
Lenin explained it best shortly after the Communist Revolution there:
(to paraphrase) “Yes, I was for free speech, but that was before we took power.”
And they will comply.
Another checkmark (that’s good) in my super hero book for Elon Musk!
