Russia’s chaotic and confusing invasion of Ukraine is baffling military analysts
CNBC ^ | 04-MAR-2022 | Holly Ellyatt

One week into Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and military analysts are united on one front, at least: Russia’s invasion has not gone entirely to plan, looking disorganized, uncoordinated and sluggish to observers.

...

“It’s going to be worse than what the Russians had in Afghanistan, that’s what the Ukrainians are going to do,” he added, alluding to the then Soviet Union’s drawn-out, bloody, costly and unpopular invasion of Afghanistan in 1979 that lasted 10 years and led to the loss of around 15,000 Soviet soldiers.

...

Russia has not been able to swiftly achieve its military objectives, he said, because “the Russians are not nearly as well trained as they think they are or as we thought they were, they’re not nearly as well equipped,” he said.

The fact your Twitter link mentioned the debunked “Ghost of Kiev” should have been a sign.

But anyone who closely watches the video can tell that that’s footage from a *video game*.

OK thanks, that's helpful. I believe you.

Installed by the DS, to do or not do what?

Yes, "The Ghost of Ukraine", who shot down six Migs on the first day.

These things are unimportant. Maybe it's not true. It's an insignificant thing and stories like this make defenders happier and perhaps put some fear into Russians.

They hear it and their politruk says it's not true, but then time goes by and they start thinking - what if an Israeli pilot with Ukrainian roots came to fight? Russians known enough to be deathly afraid of Israeli pilots!

Meanwhile what is both important and undeniably true is that Russia is savagely conducting terror bombing of the cities Kharkiv and Mariupol. The cities put up a brave fight and what is important is that they're in the east. These supposedly oppressed Russian speakers live in these cities.

So lies are fine so long as they serve the cause you happen to be for. Good to know.

“Russia’s chaotic and confusing invasion of Ukraine is baffling military analysts”

Knowing that our stupid deep state missed Tet, the fall of the Berlin Wall and 9-11, this headline is not surprising. The weenie deep state is more interested in getting sh*t-faced drunk, stealing money and chasing hookers.

Which is another odd thing about this war.

I woke up to claims that Russia is setting up to blow the reactor. Which they maybe.

But reactors are robust. Cooling towers, are not.

If both sides contested the power plant, and it is STILL RUNNING that shows a lot of restraint on both sides. Taking out a few cooling towers means meltdown, and that is very easy to do with military hardware.

For goodness sake the fire department was complaining they didn’t have full access to the site in a war zone!

Another thing that doesn’t make sense.

Sure go ahead and poke that bear with an ever bigger stick. I heard mentioned as I was dozing off to a podcast how they are dishing out news from only one side and the American people deserve to know what are Putin’s motivations and opinions no matter how wrong they are. But we all know why that is the case.

"Ukrainian civilians stealing equipment of the Russian army" - this time its captured 2B11 120mm heavy mortar-stolen with a motorcycle."

I am familiar with that motorcycle. It's a Ural, an updated Russian copy of a German motorcycle used in WWII, so it's probably not the first time one of those has towed a mortar. They are actually pretty cool, and you can buy them in the U.S., equipped with a sidecar, engageable three-wheel drive, and ammunition/toolboxes. There's even a cheaper knockoff of the Ural, called a Grad

Quagmire Alert. Wars should only last 2 weeks at the most.

It’s at the level of answering with a lie to the “do I look fat on this picture” question.

It’s insignificant.

Meanwhile Russia is barraging Ukrainian cities with artillery and bombs and their lie is “We’re not doing anything! They must be bombing their cities themselves trying to make us look bad!”

That is an action and lie with extremely important consequences.

To do the DS’s bidding.

The usual stuff, human trafficking, money laundering, arms smuggling. bidEn’s point man in Ukraine (DS knocked out Porochenko (sp?) to install Zelensky).

See my prior meme on Ukraine supporters... why do you think that list is so onboard?

IMHO, like so many other DS operations, they spring something on us, and it takes time for rational conservative deplorables to realize and then expose what DS has done. COVID is a prime example. Why do you think we so *ABRUPTLY* shift now from COVID to Ukraine and the thread of WW3?

The DS *thrives* on fear. GlowBull warming, COVID, WW3.

The amateur military analysis around here is rather amusing—beats any comedy skit—well maybe except Don Rickles....

I’m seeing an army of conscripts who don’t have the stomach for a fight, equipment that is prone to breakdowns, tires that fall apart in short order, using wheeled vehicles when tracked vehicles are required, and an enemy that is not going to give up.

Putin may conquer the Ukraine, but the people will continue in a partisan war. What no one is talking about is, who’s next?

Whole world, including Trump supports Ukraine.

Europe "supports" Ukraine from the bleachers while buying Russian energy at increasing levels. Eventually the Ukrops will figure out they've been had.

I did not state that I am in favor, nor agree, with the actions, and the stated threats from Moscow, in response.

all this is “plus 10 degrees top dead center” of putin’s legacy of his life. it’s now or never, pal.

Just the numbers of anti-tank and anti-aircraft missiles sent by the West to Ukraine is staggering. This does not include massive numbers of rifles, ammunition, grenades, etc.

More than 20 western countries are supplying weapons.

GERMANY- 1,000 anti-tank weapons and 500 "Stinger" class surface-to-air missiles and 2,700 Soviet-era, shoulder-fired Strela anti-aircraft missiles

SWEDEN- 5,000 anti-tank weapons

UK-2,000 NLAW anti-tank missiles

FINLAND- 1,500 single-shot anti-tank weapons

US- Javelind & Stingers

POLAND- Piorun, shoulder fired anti-aircraft missiles

DUTCH-Dutch government will supply 50 Panzerfaust-3 anti-tank weapons and 400 rockets

I think much of what your saying makes sense, especially the parts about old school and not wanting to use overwhelming destructive force to start with, but now things have changed.

Sticking to roads probably has something to do with the mud, they have to stick to roads because they can’t get the tracks and support vehicles reliably overland.

They actually are deliberately targeting civilians and trying to instill terror. Hence the Nuclear power plant attack and cluster bombing civilian areas. This is about trying to stop them from wanting to resist. Probably will have opposite effect.

I 100% agree that they want to install a puppet government, but now that will be impossible. The country is going to be a smoldering insurgency for years at least, and that’s if things go well for the Russians now.

They are, and there are "fail safes". But big things that go wrong with reactors, go wrong inside the reactors, including problems with the cooling.

Meanwhile the Donbas thanks you for sending them more weapons.
