One week into Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and military analysts are united on one front, at least: Russia’s invasion has not gone entirely to plan, looking disorganized, uncoordinated and sluggish to observers.
...
“It’s going to be worse than what the Russians had in Afghanistan, that’s what the Ukrainians are going to do,” he added, alluding to the then Soviet Union’s drawn-out, bloody, costly and unpopular invasion of Afghanistan in 1979 that lasted 10 years and led to the loss of around 15,000 Soviet soldiers.
...
Russia has not been able to swiftly achieve its military objectives, he said, because “the Russians are not nearly as well trained as they think they are or as we thought they were, they’re not nearly as well equipped,” he said.

I’ve been watching You Tube videos produced by foreign sources. They have a much better grasp of the reality backed up by presented facts than I have seen here.
I know, I know......... You tube. But I also know that practically all American news is propaganda. News “Made in America” is simply not beleivable
Fake news! The Russkies aren't even getting help in the East from all those alleged "Pro-Russian" Ukrainians, and even before the war, large majorities in the East opposed being made part of Russia. As the Russians are now bombing residential areas, killing 40 civilians just last night, how Pro-Russian could they be now?
And as for the Ukrainians stuck in the DNR/LNR, anecdote after anecdote from contacts they have made with the outside world generally say things like, "we live in an open air gulag where we will be arrested if they find out we're talking to you."
Russia proper is quickly doing that too, now threatening to hand out 15 year sentences to people for just describing the invasion as an "invasion" or a "war", or sharing pictures of war footage! You've been eating up some Russian propaganda.
Some young pundits certainly don’t understand a thing, but several retired generals have said exactly the same thing.
I watched Gen. McCaffrey explain how Russia has seriously messed up, is in disarray and much weaker than we thought.
He knows a thing or two having commanded the 24th Infantry Division in Desert Storm and executing the lauded Left Hook attack.
Its muddy season in Ukraine's north.
Russian corruption and lack of basic maintenance. Example: Analyst reviewed pictures of abandoned Russian vehicles, which showed deflated tires. Looks like Russians were too corrupt to regularly move the vehicles to prevent brittle/rotten tires.
Abandoned Russian Pantsir-S1 , whose rear tire fell apart when Ukrainians tried to move it
It will be much easier to control a developed urban society, than a country of isolated mountain tribesmen.
Westerners are far more pampered, far easier to find and control.
“Analysts” are always stuck fighting the last generations wars.
Russia is in no hurry, they will grind this out for weeks, months, years to get everything they want. Ground troops are expendable, civilians mean nothing to them, they will slowly crush all resistance.
Russia most certainly doesnt care what its own citizens who want access to the truth, think, those it will more brutally crush by the throat.
Where did you get whatever the non-numbers that you’re not citing?
I mean, if the mighty Ukrainian forces have chased a beaten and broken Soviet (USSR been outta business for 30 years, by the way) military halfway to Moscow, I’m thinkin’ you got a scoop there.
Think experts and think fog
“...than a country of isolated mountain tribesmen.”
You mean like Afghanistan?
What military analysts?? Do they mean the liberals that have a distorted view of reality and cannot understand it?
Even going back to soviet times, didn’t that Mig 25 that the defecting pilot deliver to the U.S. have rust all through it?
The Ukraine is not Afghanistan. Russia is taking over Ukraine, perhaps not by Millie’s playbook, but they are.
CNBS......fair and balanced....oh and truthful.
“Where did you get whatever the non-numbers that you’re not citing?”
The Russian defense ministry:

Lol, 141 countries in the UN General Assembly, vote overwhelmingly to condemn Russia, and demand that Moscow immediately withdraw its forces. Five countries voted against: Russia, Syria, North Korea, Belarus and Eritrea.
“Russia is in no hurry”
The problem is they are. If the war goes into the spring Europe no longer needs Russian gas for heating.
So far sanctions have only been on 30% of Russia’s exports. If energy exports are shut down the devastation to the Russian economy will be an order of magnitude larger.
Putin needs to end this by Apr 1st at the latest.
Amazing all the disinformation and lies being spread here about Russia’s motivation to invade Ukraine. Fortunately, I received a vaccine in 1971 that makes me immune to all of this disinformation. The vaxx, you ask? My sophomore year of high school world history book. Immunize yourself, if needed.
And if you can imagine how the US populace will be POed when as this folly leads to spiraling inflation and hardship, can imagine how the Ukraines won’t be exactly overjoyed.
Being that the current government was installed by a coup - as in common in that part of the globe - you can expect they’ll be looking for it to be replace.
Most probably just want to grow their potatoes, raise a family and not get killed in the latest regional urination competitions. One puppet govt is as good as another. Usually very few people think war is as great as the planners and profiteers do.
