This is how Trump handled Russians. Mike Pompeo, the head of the CIA and President Donald Trump's nominee for secretary of state, confirmed on Thursday that the US military killed hundreds of Russians in an intense fight in Syria. The US had previously only confirmed killing 100 or so pro-Syrian regime forces, but multiple outlets reported the number was as high as 300 and that the soldiers were Russian military contractors.

A little historical comparison between a competent President and a senile grifter. That’s all.

Irony is if Trump were still in office, Putin wouldn’t have had the nerve to invade Ukraine.

I don't think that is the reason.

Trump inherited Syria and ultimately backed off on the idea of getting rid of Assad or trying to pull Syria from Russia.

Trump respected the boundaries.

That doesn't make him weak. It makes him smart, street smart. Gangs don't have written formal agreement that define every boundary or standard, nor do the drug cartels or many other groups... but you know what will happen when you cross the street or town and enter into another gang or cartels area.

Trump actually built up missile defense, he spent more on defense, he was very hawkish where it made sense to be that way (Iraq, Afghanistan), but he didn't go shit on another mans front porch and start a fight that was entirely unnecessary and only motivated by economic interests on our side.

“Who didn’t know this?”

FReeper PIF was casting doubt on it as recently as 2/1/22. Even the NYTimes had stories confirming reports of 300+ deaths of Russian paramilitary soldiers from the Wagner Group.

Not the Russian Army, but the mercenary Wagner Group

You are totally mistaken - all I said was there were multiple different sources for the body count number.
The numbers are in dispute with the Wagner Group citing as few as 15 were killed. So its all over the map with no reliable accurate count.

What did happen was the Russian got loads of ELINT, giving them the capability to jam the AC-130 comms and GPS systems as well as other systems - they later demonstrated these methods in other places in Syria.

unless the NYT is now Gospel source for all things Russian. You evidentially have some difficulty with reading comprehension.

Russian and Russian-aligned mercenaries, not Russian troops. That’s why Russia didn’t raise any stink.

Old news. A bunch of Russian mercs gave significant heads-up to a garrison of US spec ops that they were about to attack. The coordinated artillery and close air support was a clinic in tactical capability.
