'Mama, I Didn't Want To Come': Ukraine Asks Russians To ID Their Killed, Captured Relatives

As the Russian government remains silent about the number of losses it has incurred in its invasion of Ukraine, Kyiv is appealing directly to families of Russian soldiers to identify their relatives captured or killed in the four-day-old war.

The Ukrainian Interior Ministry issued the appeal on February 27, directing relatives of Russian soldiers to online platforms where they can search through photos and videos of Russian soldiers captured or killed by Ukrainian forces.

-snip-

Vadym Denysenko, an adviser to Ukraine’s interior minister, said the Russian government had been unresponsive about facilitating the return of Russian soldiers’ remains.

“For that reason, we have been forced to appeal to you, citizens of Russia, so that you can find those who were killed on our territory -- and killed because he illegally crossed our border based on an illegal and despicable order by your president,” Denysenko said in the video appeal, which the Ukrainian Interior Ministry posted on its official YouTube channel:

Russian authorities moved swiftly against the initiative's site, which was blocked by the government's media regulator the same day at the request of Russia's Prosecutor-General's Office.

The Russian Defense Ministry has yet to release information about the number of Russian soldiers killed, wounded, or captured since President Vladimir Putin launched the invasion of Ukraine on February 24.

The more people that see the horrors of war, the less war we will have.

Putin doesn’t give a rats ass about his soldiers, nor his people.

They are mere pawns being led to slaughter as the average Russian back home has their hard earned money cut in half, economically.

Putin is probably the best thing possible to degrade Russia.

Ukraine released some video of an interview with a Russian POW (bit of a violation of the Geneva Convention doing that, but that's not the point).

The Russian solider said that they were told they were just conducting a military exercise and even after the invasion began were told they were "invited" in by Ukraine to fight a Neo-Nazi's insurgency. Now I realize Russia has always had the military philosophy that the rank and file don't need to know anything but to do what their told, but that's a bit ridiculous.

Of course the Russian Solider just might be saying what he thinks his captors want to hear to save his own skin, so who knows?

Other sources on the internet vary, but the numbers seen to suggest over 5,000 Russians killed, and it’s pretty much being reported only around 350 Ukrainians.

If this is truly accurate you’d have to assume the Russians are not trying to annihilate the people in Ukraine.

Putin went to war because he wanted to restore glory to Russia and put together the old Soviet Union. Instead he has brought eternal shame onto his country, destroyed his economy, killed young vital Russian men who will never marry and have children.

The use of photographs and video of enemy prisoners for propaganda is a war crime. Just FYI to the Ukrainians who appear to be doing this regularly.

This is what I think will actually7 happen. An oligarch in the Mediterranean just had his yacht sunk by a Ukrainian crewman. 7 million Euros gone.

What the Ukrainians are doing is making the prisoners call their parents back in Russia.

Putin went to war because he wanted to restore glory to Russia and put together the old Soviet Union. Instead he has brought eternal shame onto his country, destroyed his economy, killed young vital Russian men who will never marry and have children.

I think this is the best bottom line summary. The 2 cases we keep hearing trying to paint a different picture seem to be:

1. He was doing this to stop Ukraine from joining NATO. Even if true, he had other cards to play as a counter besides attacking them, and fear of him attacking them would be the very reason they wanted to be in NATO.

2. The US government is worse than Putin, and Trump has a secret pact with Putin to take out the NWO/Deep State, and a lot of their operations are based in Ukraine. Yes, some people do believe this, and even openly post it here. First I don’t like secret agreements while the public is misled, that’s essentially what the deep state itself does. Second you should never trust someone like a former KGB agent with secret agreements. Trump regularly flip flops on what he says regarding Russia so there’s really nothing sound to base this on, anyway.

So looking at those two arguments, they both seem hypocritical and devoid of obvious facts like Russia/Putin is predisposed to attacking its neighbors just as we’re seeing now. This isn’t some noble attack on the NWO, it’s a madman who wants to grow his empire at the cost of millions of innocents.

In this case, we actually need a united world to stop it.
