NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg on Friday said that Russian President Vladimir Putin has threatened the alliance by telling it to withdraw forces from member nations or face consequences.
This goes far beyond Ukraine," Stoltenberg warned. "This is about how Russia is actually challenging, contesting core values for our security. Then warning that NATO should withdraw all forces and infrastructure from almost half of our members.
"They said that if we don't do that, if we don't meet their demands, there will be what they call ‘military-technical consequences,'" he added.
The leader of the 30-member alliance said that in response to these threats NATO has for the first time deployed its Response Force for collective security.
Stoltenberg said the U.S., U.K., France and Germany are among the NATO nations to have deployed forces and lead elements to assist the Response Force.
"We have to take this seriously," he said....

British troops arrived in Estonia on Friday as part of a Nato mission to strengthen the alliance’s eastern flank after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Military lorries and flatbed trucks carrying tanks crossed over the Latvian-Estonian border a week after the UK announced it would double the size of British forces in Estonia.
Other Nato members, including Germany and the US, have also sent additional troops and military equipment to the eastern flank.
The UK has already announced that further troops will be sent to the region in the face of Russia’s invasion.
That’s how I see it as well. They would have to be crazy to not prepare.

He isn’t going to get any comeuppance. He will get this mess to the table with talks. Zelensky will say, okay no NATO. Biden will get his billions for ginning up a war. Hunter will get to make more illegal deals with oligarchs and traffik more humans. Lindsay will get and more blabber time on Hannity. And the MSM will carry on about what a wonderful statesman Poopy Joe is.
