Four EU countries block Russia's disconnection from SWIFT

Germany, Italy, Hungary, and Cyprus are blocking Russia's disconnection from the international interbank system SWIFT as CNN reported.

“Removing Russia from SWIFT would make it almost impossible for financial institutions to send money in or out of the country. This would seriously impact Russian businesses with foreign customers and could do real damage to the country's economy,” the message says.

At the same time, high-ranking EU sources report that there is a split in the union amid the adoption of the issue.

It is noted that such countries as Germany, Italy, Hungary, and Cyprus are against disconnecting Russia from the SWIFT payment system.

A high-ranking EU diplomat said that "negotiations are going on right now," but believes that economic interests are likely to win the dispute and Brussels will not disconnect Russia from SWIFT.

As we reported, the United States did not envisage Russia's disconnection from the international interbank payment system SWIFT in the first package of sanctions for aggression against Ukraine, but the issue has not been completely removed from the agenda.

If Germany tried to insist on buying gas with Euros, Russia could insist on using Gold.

Russia has a price or capacity advantage over other suppliers to Germany, and cannot easily be replaced.

What’s more: Ukraine currently *increases* the cost of Russia’s energy to Germany. There will be a lot of dry eyes in Germany if Ukraine is no longer in a position to affect gas prices.

4 holdouts out of 30 isn’t bad. The Germans are the only ones that really count.

The issue can be forced anyway. Have the Ukes lure the Russians into a few firefights along the existing pipelines and the Russians won’t take long to accommodate.

Wrong. Putin has been building for this for a very long time. His goal (and he says it) is basically to restore the USSR in slightly different detail (almost more of a facist state with some freedoms for citizens who accept or at least don’t buck too much — yes, I know, we seem to be headed toward that too), but, a conquering empire regardless.

Any compromise that Putin would have accepted would have only made Putin stronger and embittered the majority of Ukrainians further.

All the secondary issues are minor by comparison: At its core this is about Putin expanding his empire and the desire of the majority of Ukrainians to have none of it.

I’m tired of Europe . Let them rot. 2 world wars were enough. If they want to return to 1914 let them.

A bed they made. They might as well surrender.

Biden is a very stupid man.

And, Putin a very smart man.

Putin/Russia are 10 Chess moves ahead, while bidEn continues with checkers. Putin ****WANTS**** SWIFT exit. SWIFT represents Cabal Deep State worthless-fiat reserve dollar and the FED (pwned by the IMF). Putin knows the world is soon moving to precious metal backed currency. Actually, there are other smart governments that have stocked up on their *physical* gold reserves, foreseeing what we are being shown on TV today.

Russia’s gold and foreign currency holdings have reached an all-time high of $643.2 billion as of February 18, according to the latest data published by the country’s central bank on Thursday. Reserves have surged $3.6 billion from the previous week, the regulator said, noting that the 0.6% rise was due to a positive market revaluation.

The FOXites are crowing today because Slo Joe has declared he will be cutting Russia out of SWIFT.

They will find that it makes very little difference.
