TULSA, Okla. — U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-OK) is expected to announce his resignation on Monday, according to a New York Times report Thursday.
The report says Inhofe would remain in his seat through the end of the congressional session.
Inhofe, 87, already announced after his reelection in 2020 that this would be his last term.
He's been in office since 1994.
If Inhofe resigns on or before March 1, a special election for the vacancy would be a part of the November ballot.

The Georgia Republicans who refused to do a D@mn thing about the election fraud in Georgia, handed the Senate to the Democrats.
People told them at the time:
"If they will steal a presidential election, they will steal a Senate election. FIX THIS or LOSE."
They refused to fix it.
I don't blame Georgia Republicans for refusing to participate in a farce.
Lin Wood just said the same thing a lot of people were thinking. Saying he caused it is like trying to give the rooster credit for the sunrise.
Probably not half of 1% of Georgia voters have even heard the name Lin Wood.
“Since Inhofe is the ranking armed services committee member it makes you wonder why today of all days.”
He already announced he wouldn’t run again over a year ago.
Got to make it official sometime so potential candidates know they are in an open race.
Jesus Christ. Lin Wood’s words influenced no one.
Gotta get rid of Lankford - snake in the grass
Good riddance.
Inhofe was a wonderful mayor, been in the Senate too long ~ both OK senators failed us on 01-06
Some of the retards are here on FR.
Yeah, I’m in Tulsa. I don’t anticipate anyone any better than either of those RINOs. Liberal fags are taking over Tulsa county the way they did Denver.
Yeah - Georgia got pulled into that game of two Senators up for election when Isakson sat waaaaaaaaaay too many years in his “safe seat” for RINO’s as his medical conditions got worse and worse. In the end, he was not mentally ready to do anything but raise his hand.
And, as I said, I've lived in GA 45 years. I can guarantee almost no one in Georgia has ever even heard of Lin Wood. It seems those who want to defend the execrable GA GOP in particular, and the GOPE generally, want to push this BS fantasy narrative.
Kinda surprised you bought into it.
What are you implying?
His son died in a plane crash.
I thought he already had resigned since he doesn’t show up for critical votes and sends out months old subject matter form letters to questions about current events.
I’m wondering now why he even ran this last time.
I don’t know where these guys get the idea they are indispensable. At 87 he has had his run an it is way past time to go home.
Or is it greed of power and money that keeps them there past their time, prime and usefulness?
I’ll be glad to see him go. Surely we can do better.
Yes he was flying a very complex high performance turboprop that gets way ahead of the pilot. The MU-2 needs a pilot and copilot in complex traffic procedures and cockpit management. Things go bad very quickly in that plane if you’re attention gets stretched too thin.
I like Nathan Dahm. He’s has a pretty old school outlook.
He’s running against Froggy Lankford but now that a second seat is opening up who knows.
Steve Largent time?
And he did not have a copilot as he was not a commercial operator under part 135 or as a carrier. In those roles the MU2 needs a pilot and copilot. The MU2 makes a King Air seem like a Trainer.
My thoughts exactly.
