I thought he already had resigned since he doesn’t show up for critical votes and sends out months old subject matter form letters to questions about current events.
I’m wondering now why he even ran this last time.
I don’t know where these guys get the idea they are indispensable. At 87 he has had his run an it is way past time to go home.
Or is it greed of power and money that keeps them there past their time, prime and usefulness?
I’ll be glad to see him go. Surely we can do better.

Excellent question.
Unfortunately the real reason is that the lobbyists that own them usually have blackmail files to keep the politician in line.
One owned politician in the hand is worth two in the bush.
