After Clarifying the Definition of 'Invasion,' Biden Announces New Sanctions on Russia

Speaking from the East Room at the White House Tuesday afternoon, President Joe Biden announced new sanctions on Russian banks, sovereign debt and oligarchs after President Vladimir Putin launched an invasion into Ukraine Monday.

"This is the beginning of a Russian invasion of Ukraine," Biden said. "I'm going to begin to impose sanctions in response."

The remarks come less than 24 hours after White House national security officials wavered on the definition of "invasion," contradicting the position from Biden in January.

"President Biden has been clear with the Russian President: If any Russian military forces move across the Ukrainian border, that’s a renewed invasion, and it will be met with a swift, severe, and united response from the United States and our Allies," White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki released in a clean up statement on January 19, 2022 after Biden indicated a "minor incursion" into Ukraine was acceptable. "President Biden also knows from long experience that the Russians have an extensive playbook of aggression short of military action, including cyberattacks and paramilitary tactics. And he affirmed today that those acts of Russian aggression will be met with a decisive, reciprocal, and united response."

In addition, Biden announced new U.S. troop movements and equipment in the NATO countries of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. He also braced Americans for consequences at home.

“Defending freedom will have costs for us as well, and here at home. We need to be honest about that.”

That is the Rats / Media game plan. All of JoeKs failings are due to Russia, Russia, Russia not his leftist policies.

Nothing scares Putin like being late for your own meeting to threaten him.

Thanks for the graphic. The simple picture suggests the the military-industrial complex is demanding to be fed some more.

Lest the "military-industrial" complex be thought of only as American, the EU nations are filled with their own manufacturers wanting in on the action.

What I find so strange about the militarist Left is that they sometimes trot out "sel-determination" for populaces, and sometimes "defend the borders" when populaces seek to break away. This tells that they have no root principles except to seek ever more money and power.

Lets be clear Putin is basically “invading” two small breakaway regions he took over in 2014. The reason Trump isn’t upset about it is because he has known about it and knows what Putin is doing. Its an alliance operation against the gesarian mafia that Biden and Hunter have been joined at the hip with for years. That’s why Biden is foaming at the mouth.

Why has Brandon not prepared our energy infrastructure to be prepared for this Russian invasion?

Why does he want Americans to suffer with higher energy prices when he could have prepared? And now our 401k’s are crashing just as Trump predicted. It’s not funny having a demented incompetent President no matter how many jokes Psaki wants to make.

‘”Defending freedom...”

He used the F word. Does that make him a supremacist?

Poland just passed a massive new military budget and has plans for a strong military.

Putin’s achievements will be very limited. Trump mocked Putin with his sarcasm, but his point was that Putin wouldn’t even think about doing this while Trump was in office.

In a way he’s correct, ”Defending freedom...” means HIS freedom, because if the world and Americans find out what he and Hunter have been doing in Ukraine they will lose their freedom!................
