Yeah, it would end all of this crap everywhere. Why don’t we just take in Mexico and Canada. Oh, Russia too. Think of all the crap that would end.

Frederick the Great once said, “He who defends everything defends nothing.” I think that applies here. If we keep expanding our promises we will eventually be boxed into a corner. Then we must either back down or risk WW III.
In a way it’s like playing no-limit poker. Calling all-in repeatedly can shake up your opponent...until he tires of being put in that position. Then the game becomes a dangerous coin flip.
