The White House said President Biden would soon issue an executive order that would ban new investment, trade and financing by US people and entities in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions.
“This EO [executive order] will also provide authority to impose sanctions on any person determined to operate in those areas of Ukraine,” said Jen Psaki, White House press secretary. “We will also soon announce additional measures related to today’s blatant violation of Russia’s international commitments.”
Psaki said the measures were separate from the economic sanctions the US has threatened to impose if Putin invades Ukraine. “We are continuing to closely consult with Allies and partners, including Ukraine, on next steps and on Russia’s ongoing escalation along the border with Ukraine.”

Speaking Ukrainian is kind of like Gaelic in Ireland, some speak it more for show than anything, but most Ukrainians mainly do speak Russian as their primary language.

According to the statement from Ginger Goebbels, Resident Biden is punishing the Luhansk and Donetsk regions for welcoming Russian recognition of those regions’ independence, and is thereby acting as a proxy for Ukraine’s kleptocracy.

I didn't see the people of Ukraine calling out to us to protect them... I didn't see fear in the streets... And that's after our people were over there doing everything we could to convince them Russia was invading ANY MINUTE NOW. Wednesday - or maybe Thursday or ANY MINUTE NOW.

Putin wins and Biden loses. This was always the outcome, regardless of where the lines were drawn. Putin had all the marbles and Biden is sucking his thumb. Biden was never a match, except in his own mind.
We can't impose crippling sanctions on Russia because Americans won't tolerate paying $15/gal gas at the pumps, so will impose sanctions on the two breakaway republics of Donetsk and Luhansk where we have very little shared economic activity for the crime of being recognized as autonomous by Putin.

Taiwan's of great interest to our well being as a nation... they produce the computer chips that keep our country running. Chips that will take years for our country to produce for ourselves... and the people who live in Taiwan have have expressed great concern about China taking them over. As the people of Hong Kong did...This situation is worth thought and debate.
