Gas At $7.70 A Gallon? UK Pump Prices Hit New Highs
Breitbart ^ | 2-14-2022 | Oliver JJ lane

A combination of high taxes and constrained supply continues to push fuel prices ever upwards, with average prices at the pump reaching a dizzying new high in the United Kingdom, with petroleum selling on average for £1.48 a litre — $7.60 a U.S. gallon — for the first time.

Britain’s Automobile Association (AA) has revealed that average vehicle fuel prices over the weekend had hit new highs, with petrol (gas) on sale at 148.02 pence a litre ($7.60 a U.S. gallon) and diesel at 151.57 pence ($7.76 a U.S. gallon). These are new historic highs, nudging out the previous high at the end of last year.

The steady rise in price for auto fuels is being driven by stronger demand for energy as the global economy re-opens after years of lockdowns imposed by national governments and the state of relations with Russia, The Guardian reports. Oil is trading at a high not seen for several years.

The paper reports that fuel prices are so high that many families polled by the AA are cutting back on travel to save money.

Drivers are more fortunate in the United States, where even a potentially historic high of $4 a gallon estimated to be on the way works out to just 77p a litre, a price not seen at UK pumps since the beginning of the century.

While prices are impacted by global events like coronavirus and Moscow, actually the biggest upwards pressure on fuel prices in the UK is taxes.

Democrats in the U.S. are jealous of the U.K.’s gas prices.

That’s Brandon’s plan.
Penalize petroleum, subsidize electric.
I don’t drive that much but I’m nervous about my future heating costs.

The difficult part for vehicle mfgrs is if Trump is back in as POTUS in 2025, it’s all gonna change again.
Very difficult to product plan with a 3 year plus lead time.

That’s part of the car manufacturers pushing EV’s. The CAFE standards are for the averages of all cars sold. If half of your cars are EV’s and half of your cars get 20 mpg, you’ve reached the 40 mpg average requirement.

Not been to the UK but I was paying $7 a gallon equivalent in Italy 10 years ago. All their rental cars got 40 mpg so it didn’t matter. Italians are fun, they either are at full throttle or locked brakes all the time.

“Penalize petroleum, subsidize electric.”

And by doing so they have forced car manufacturers into building and lauding EVs to comply with the ever-tightening Enviro-regs and stay in business.

A Public-Private partnership to destroy choice by the citizenry.

For the children.

Probably. And puts something in the chainsaw gas to make it smoke.

It’s it on the verge of price fixing to manipulate the markets
to drive prices up?

That’s the goal of Biden, no doubt. Isn’t that illegal?

Then they go into the convenience store and shell out a similar high amount for a styrofoam cup of tea, some jammie dodgers and digestives.*

*A rock history book about Eric Clapton said “If only we could have been in on that disagreement in the recording producer’s office when they took a break for tea and digestives.”
I have had digestives a few times but they’re fattening. Drizzled caramel or chocolate over a sugary cookie. Delicious.

Maybe I’ll go get some now. A local store sells them in MI.
