On Friday’s broadcast of HBO’s “Real Time,” host Bill Maher joked about mask mandates in California by remarking that “in San Francisco, you have to have the mask on when you’re shoplifting indoors,” and telling local politicians to get their apologies ready for when they get caught breaking mask rules during the Super Bowl.

Nobody has to “trust” him. Just take what he’s saying now as a good thing and actually supportive of freedom. He has a big following, so this is good.
And as for media figures, comedians, politicians, presidents: “Put not your trust in princes, nor in the sons of men.”
When the silliness has surpassed even the sensibility of the fruitcake Bill Maher, you know it’s over the top!
The mask probably helps with the stink in the streets
When your policies, or actions, have become the butt of jokes from comedians, of all persuasions, you’ve lost the battle.
Interesting how each wave of newness spawns its own population of young ignoramuses who, seeing the world through new glasses, are to some extent on the same level as even the most experienced and wise.
Since so much newness in the field of information transfer has emerged in the last hundred years, the ignoramuses are quick to get their voices heard. As far as they know, the future is a blank slate. Their ability to project their voice, their thoughts, using the new medium, far outstrips their ability to formulate something to say that has some enduring value, that embodies some truth.
Time passes, and the consequences and implications of the nonsense they spouted when they were young begin to play out. Reality begins to intrude, and the contradictions inherent in their earlier positions begin to emerge from the gloom, assume tangible form, become obvious, become unavoidable. Eventually they become embarrassing, in some cases.
Bill Mahar is an example of that phenomenon. I suppose Joe Rogan is just the new Bill Mahar. Perhaps Dave Chappelle is another example of the phenomenon. From what I’ve seen, Megan Kelly may be another who is going down that road.
In a way, it’s a good thing. Each has their audience, each has their population of followers. Perhaps each can drag his or her population forward toward some kind of enlightenment; the specifics of enlightenment change over time because of technology and the new freedoms it brings. Of course the things they “discover” are not new at all, but do appear new to each consecutive generation.

Right! Like with Jon Stewart, Bill Maher has been saying quite a few sensible things lately. They’re reaching folks who, let us say, aren’t reading Free Republic.
That’s not to say Maher won’t go off the rails tomorrow. But so far, so good.
Maher got his big break with the show “Politically Incorrect” about 30 years ago, a show I actually enjoyed since it was indeed about being politically incorrect. It was funny and irreverent. But with its success, Maher decided it was preferable and more lucrative to be part of the elitest leftist crowd in Hollywood and his show became the leftist Sh!t Bowl known as “Real Time”.
Not sure what has changed for him, and I still think he’s an arrogant moronic douchebag, but he definitely appears to be switching gears and finding his independence again, but like you, I still don’t trust him. Anything for ratings and relevancy is key to being successful in Hollywood.
When you’ve lost Bill Maher, the end is near.
That’s pretty funny : “Wear your mask when shoplifting indoors”
Even the Hollyweirdos are fed up. Goldie Hawn appeared on Fox News to criticize ongoing mask requirements for schoolchildren.
Shoplifters shouldn’t have to wear masks. But the employees should be required to help bring their steakings to their car.
Funny, but true. As long as you have that mask on, you can walk out with unpaid goods and not fear arrest. But if caught buying something without a mask on, you will be assaulted and arrested.
Even a F A is right, when he’s right.
He’ll be back to his usual tricks in time.
