this doesn't even factor in the charging time for these cars. At least a few hours at current technology. Stupid.

It would take you 3-4 hours to drive on a short 200 mile trip.

There’s much more to the electric car story than what you might be hearing. The anti-fossil-fuel business tends to forget and/or ignore the fact that electric cars are, obviously, just that … powered by electricity, a secondary energy source that is mostly generated by the combustion of coal and natural gas both here in the U.S. and around the world.

Electric cars often need an entire night to recharge at home, and they can increase a house’s power consumption by 50% or more, Adding an electric car on the grid is equivalent in some cases to adding three houses.

I’ll bet all those low income families are praising Joe for allowing them to be able to charge the batteries in their $30k to $60k electric vehicles.

As long as they have nice yellow CAT 3406 engines running the generators, I see no big problem with this.

Two electric cars in each neighborhood. No problem. Twenty or forty then the electrical grid is toast and you can no longer make toast.

In related news today the Biden administration plans to build luxury hotels adjacent the EV charging stations. The construction of the hotels will be free and will not add to the federal debt.

This program will allow people traveling on interstates to spend the night while their vehicles are being recharged.

The Biden administration touted the new proposal saying it also improve highway safety since people will not be able to travel more than several hours per day using EVs.

The "Biding your time" hotels will be free of charge to all people who utilize the charging stations. The hotels will also serve complimentary meals and offer an optional spa and nail pedicure package.

The Federal Government/US Taxpayers did not pay to construct gas stations. So why is this Jobama regime getting involved in this electric car charging station business? It’s reasonable to conclude that since it’s the Federal Government, that another government take over of what should be left to private enterprise (electric car makers, electrical power companies, private investments) will eventually end in a catastrophic failure and literally strand the middle and lower class Americans ability to travel. Could that possibly be their goal?

Another thing nobody talks about is the reliability/security of these charging stations out in the middle of nowhere.

So you are driving the thruway, you're running out of charge, so you pull up to the charging station, you plug in the charge cable, and your car makes a loud BANG! and now it won't run any more. Or it catches fire.

This is not unlikely at all -- IT IS GOING TO HAPPEN, OVER AND OVER.

So now you're on the thruway, family+dog in the car. Or worse, you're all standing back from it because it caught fire with all your stuff in it.

And then if you're really unlucky, another car comes up filled with nasty-looking strangers and you get robbed, or beat up, or raped, etc.

Not looking forward to this, no, not at all.

Oh my goodness! So the estimated cost for an EV charging network is about 5 million per person every year for the next 22 years?

“Recognizing the problem”

Just wait until they recognize the REAL problem is there is no juice to charge all those EVs and FedGov won’t let anybody build a real power plant that could deliver.
