Another thing about Hef, was that he was a huge democrat money maker. He had numerous fundraisers at the mansion every year for different progressive candidates. So he was protected. Obama got a lot of his early backing from Hef. His daughter credits herself with finding Obama and supporting him early on for his Senate race and more quietly for president. In fact, people tried to tie Obama to Playboy. And Playboy had to back away. A lot of the early Obama supporters had to take a back seat once he became prime-time.
The reality is that the bunnies were just ordinary models, not always that hot. They went to the parties to meet producers and other men who could help them become famous. If you put on the uniform, you were trading some sort of sex for some sort of money. Like football, there may have been roughing penalties on both sides. The artful made contacts with men who could and would provide some sort of financial benefit without too dear a sexual cost.
As the article explains, many were drugged and then coerced into debauched behaviors, which were secretly filmed. He threatened to expose anyone who spoke against him by revealing those tapes.
