Under one party rule, ‘Criminals know how to exploit California’s policies for their gain’.
Californians have recently been treated to images of mountains of trash along the Union Pacific rail line in Los Angeles. CBS-LA reporter John Schreiber went to the site and took video of looted packages from Amazon and UPS, prescription drugs, Amazon packages, “unused Covid tests, fishing lures, epi pens. Cargo containers left busted open on trains.”
His videos went viral on social media, and many news reports followed.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom visited the site Thursday and helped perform clean up for the cameras.
“What has happened on this stretch of the Union Pacific Railroad is unacceptable,” Newsom told reporters. He said the area looked like a scene from “a Third World country,” according to FOX 11 of Los Angeles.
It is unacceptable. But this has been going on for a long time, with little or no reported response from local or state government.
But rather than doubling down on the source of these crimes, Fox 11 LA reports Newsom praised Proposition 47, Proposition 57 and AB 109, claiming they had helped reduce crime in the state: Proposition 47, which downgraded some felonies to misdemeanors; Proposition 57, which reduced prison sentences; and Assembly Bill 109, which shifted detainees from state prisons to local jails, FOX 26 of Fresno reported.
Proposition 47, reduced a host of felonies to misdemeanors, including drug crimes, date rape, and all thefts under $950, even for repeat offenders who steal every day. Proposition 57 now allows newly-defined “nonviolent” felons to qualify for early release, and parole boards can now only consider an inmate’s most recent charge, and not their entire history because of this proposition.
Even with LA police catching and arresting the Union Pacific thieves, they are out within the day because of the two propositions Newsom claims to support. These “criminal justice reforms” have produced the stark increase of thefts and robberies.
None of this has stopped the railway theft yet. Only strong policing with legal consequences to the theft will.
The governor’s reaction might as well be pure theater – remember, he endorsed Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón.
Didn’t the guy who ran against him in the recall throw it saying Biden election was legit?
File this under: “We released all the criminals, refuse to punish new crimes, and legalized drugs. We have no idea why everything has gone to hell.”
Oh ya he’s going to pick up a mess, as soon as the us postal service delivers my free Covid test.
I must admit I didn’t watch it closely.
Figures...
I'm sure his contribution to the hard work of cleaning up was well appreciated by all. I hope is pudgy, pasty white hands and nails didn't get too dirty. And I REALLY hope his perfectly coifed hair did not get out of place.
I HATE politicians and especially their stinking, phony, and transparently silly photo ops.
Mexico in certain places. Looks like New Delhi and Beijing in Silicon Valley...with a good bit of Afghanistan thrown in for good measure.
Whatever you reward, you get more of.
Whatever you punish, you get less of.
California rewards criminals and punish honest citizens.
This is further proof that the Democratic Party is incompetent and unbelievably naive in seeing how real life works.
..and they’re bringing their criminal culture norms with them when they come here. Foreigners don’t become Americans any more. They become hyphenated subjects expecting us to adapt to their culture.
There is a lot of truth to that. I was born and raised in San Francisco, back when it was a Republican city. Downtown areas were clean and maintained. Lots of wonderful stores and theaters on Market Street (the main road east to west thru downtown), and on Mission Street (the main road south to northeast). After the 1960's when illegals flooded in, shops and theaters shut down and iron gratings went up on shops in the Mission District. The Mission District, formerly Irish/Italian etc., sprouted Spanish signs and vegetable stands on sidewalks. It began looking like Tijuana (I've been there). Now the Mexicans are complaining because white techies moved in and they say the whites are taking their "traditionally latino" neighborhood away; never mind that it used to be a white neighborhood before the latinos ruined it.
Overpopulated, dirty, and low-quality shops - the Mission District is no longer a gem where I used to shop without worry.
I thought that was Newsome’s goal.
Vote Blue
Gearing up for 2024…
So if he changes the classification of a felony to a misdemeanor, he’s able to say felony crimes are down? Despicable
wonder if he just returned from a secret trip to the free state of florida... 🤔...
He’d move to Florida if he could find a U-Haul. He and his ilk created their mess. They live with it. And they dang shouldn’t be allowed to export it.
And, there it is. If it weren't for politics, newsome and every other political whore would be dressed in drag, trolling for dollars on 2nd and Broad in Louisville.
But as long as fools keep voting for them, they can hide their real selves.
LA’s gone and it’s not coming back.
