Here is the late info on the Hunga Tonga volcano
Still have not determined the size of the eruption. But it created an umbrella high up.
Anyone that wants to stay near there now is crazy. And near is relative. A thousand miles might be too close.
Hell of an argument about the explosive index.
Some are saying less than 4. Others are saying that estimate is way low.
I suppose it will depend on when they can get around there and see.
Now imagine this..This one was large. But Krakatoa shock waves went around the world several times. Tambora was bigger than that.
Was it a Hunga-Tonga burning love?
Thank you for posting this link. It’s very interesting.

Airport air pressure sensors as the Tonga Volcano shockwave crossed the US mainland

Wow.
It also ejected great balls of fire.
That has got to be the best name for a volcanic eruption!
It just begs for virgins!
Aaahh, BOOOO!
That was SO bad, it wrapped all the way around to “Good.”
First we will see if forecast temperatures in Australia are higher than actual. Shouldn't be too hard to get the archived data pre and post eruption. Then we will look for warming of the stratosphere that happens with all the big volcanoes. The size of that spike in warming is going to propotional to the global cooling in the troposphere, and impossible to hide.
Tongan government confirms all homes on Mango destroyed, fears death toll to rise
Tonga tsunami: Body of UK woman Angela Glover found, says brother
They are already reporting weird weather in Australia. Tornadoes and all that.
Of course I guess there always needs to be a place to hang a hat.
Need to keep an eye on the SO2 images in the southern hemisphere.
Arial footage didn’t provide a complete picture of the damage, Fakafānua said.
“Some of the images are very disturbing, especially from the outer islands, but it’s a start,” he said.
New Zealand Foreign Affairs Minister Nanaia Mahuta said images from the P3 arial flight were passed to the Tongan government to assist them in assessing the damage.
Mahuta understands Tonga government is making preparations to evacuate Mango and other islands.
“[The damage is] significantly concerning in some areas and that’s why we want to make sure that we can assist the government of Tonga to take the necessary actions.”
“You can understand that people are very stressed at this time and the government of Tonga is working very hard on the ground to ensure that they can respond to those communities and villages that are most affected.”
Fua’amotu International Airport in Tonga was still covered in ashfall, hindering efforts for humanitarian support.
New Zealand has sent one of the Air Force’s Hercules aircraft.
Mahuta said it was full of humanitarian aid but hadn’t been able to land so far.
She understood the runway was being cleared by the manual labour of about 200 people and she hoped it was cleared by the end of the week.
The logistics of airdropping aid became difficult, she said.
Two navy vessels had also been readied. Specialist support like divers were part of this crew.
The thing that I always found fascinating about Krakatoa was the famous lighthouse that was smashed in half by a 600 ton coral head that was picked up by the tsunami as it came ashore...and by looking at the remaining stump of the lighthouse, they could see how high in the wave that 600 ton rock was riding.
BTW, Gonna be some arguments about this one.
Being it was a HUGE pheartic explosion. That is most likely why they cant get a grip on this one yet.
There is a very good special on youtube about Tambora.
The Brits really became the fathers of volcanology with that one.
