0.4% Oooooooooooo.
During the Great Depression people in the South ate armadillo meat and called them Hoover Hogs. This time we can call them Biden Burgers.
Slap a mask on the people and this could be San Francisco.
How about some nice fresh BAT?......................
Me neither............... maybe a half one..................
Don't laugh. Now you can afford part of the tax increases to fund illegals. Just sell your good clothes to a consignment store. And eat cornstarch on toast for supper every night.
Locally, meat may be temporarily get cheaper as dairy farmers who cannot afford to feed their cows sell off their herd to meat packers.
It is temporary, and results in a double whammy of higher dairy prices in the long run.
When I move somewhere (about 6 months out - cost $1000 to actually move) buy a house with an area I can install it ($200 for the electrician) where this is feasible I will go out and buy a drop in freezer (about $500) create a relationship with other families (take another 3-6 months - various dinners maybe $200 investment) and do this to save money.
Cheap Meat?
Yep.
Got 2 freezers full of it.
I load up whenever on sale or marked down.
and there is always something on special at one of my local shops. Beef, pork, yard birds, fish, and other items of interest as well.
A good thing. We have planned and put aside enough of a bounty so that we can help some other folks in a pinch.
As it should be.
What is saving a few dollars for a pound of meat against a world no longer full of mean tweets?
Stock up on bbq sauce. Demonrats are stringy and not very palatable.

Our cheap dented on sale freezer from Lowes plugs into a normal 110 volt outlet and it uses minimal electricity.
When people found out what we were doing we had 4-6 wanting to go in with us. We have people telling us if such and such backs out next year I will go in with you.

Or you can go directly to a beef cattle farm operation that process their own cows and buy it direct. Buy a few pounds of ground round or a entire freezer full. Way cheaper than the store because you are buying direct.
“Farm to table” is the term andit is becoming hughly popular.

This is what we have done for many years. When our kids were growing up we had to stock up with beef more often. Now we stock up about one a year. We have two deep freezers hooked up to a backup generator. We buy from a local rancher and who lets me pick out a steer and then slaughters it.
Producer prices, a leading indicator for consumer prices, were up a record 9.7% for the year.
“Now we stock up about one a year”
It was a learnng process when we first started-how long the meat can stay in the freezer. The one issue we had was freezer burn with older cuts. We started to vacuum pack the more expensive cuts and it really help.
“I love cats...but I can’t eat a whole one.!”
My wife and I had noticed that the barn cats living at 2 different neighbor homes, haven’t been seen for weeks. We need to ask the neighbors what happened to the cats.
Also, we had two big Gray Squirrels, who sounded like big foot when they are on our roof.
Now, only the male is still around. He used to be totally fearless when he was in our yard, and we went outside.
We haven’t seen the big female squirrel for months.
Now, he climbs trees or ambles across the street to the safety of a neighbor’s big redwoods.
No cats and only 1 semi wise Gray Male Squirrel left in our area.
We vacuum pack the meat before loading our freezers. Also, by carefully packing and using two freezers we can mostly avoid opening the second freezer until the first one is empty.
