Sen. Ted Cruz: January 6 Protests on Capitol Hill a ‘Violent Terrorist Attack’
Breitbart ^ | 6 Jan | CHARLIE SPIERING

Posted on 01/06/2022 8:09:00 AM PST by RandFan

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) claimed Wednesday the January 6 protest of the 2020 election on Capitol Hill last year was a “violent terrorist attack.”

“We are approaching a solemn anniversary this week. And it is an anniversary of a violent terrorist attack on the Capitol, where we saw the men and women of law enforcement demonstrate incredible courage, incredible bravery, risk their lives for the Capitol,” Cruz said.

The Texas senator discussed the protests in an exchange with Capitol Police Chief Tom Manger during a Senate Rules Committee oversight hearing.

Cruz has defined the violent protests on Capitol Hill as terrorism before.

Just days after the 2021 protests, Cruz said, “We saw a terrorist attack on the United States Capitol. It was despicable. It was an assault on the citadel of democracy.”

Ted is right. The event is embarrassing to our side. We don’t want anything to do with the thugs who participated.

It's a little more complicated than that. Some overzealous patriots got caught up in the instigated hype and walked in thru open doors and did nothing but trespass. Can't blame everyone in the area and paint with a broad brush.

>>WTF is Ted doing? NEVER reinforce the DemocRATS’ false narratives… NEVER!<<

I want to wait a few days to see how Ted Cruz responds to the criticism. I support Cruz, he has been a great Senator for the state of Texas not to mention a great solicitor general for the state during Obozo’s years.

Ted fought numerous cases for the citizens of Texas against the Obozo regime before the Supreme Court and won. So, hard to just abandon the guy.

I suspect Ted is only referring to the violent actors during the Jan. 6th protests. I see very few on our side acknowledge there was some pretty hokie stuff going on that day.

I watch the videos and it was overwhelmingly peaceful, BUT...there were people busting stuff up, smashing windows, entering offices they had no business entering and skirmishes with capitol police, one of which led to the death of Ashli Babbitt.

This should never have happened. When folks saw others climbing walls and tearing crap up, they should have left the building. Ashli’s death was a wrongful death. That officer could have grabbed her, pulled her through to his side and placed cuffs on her...not murder her. That said, what in the hell was Ashli doing?

The door was barricaded. It was obviously barricaded for a reason. Chicken 54!7 politicians were cowering. Then I saw some dude with a black helmet, the kind you typically see antifa wearing, in his hand smashing the door glass of the barricaded entry. The glass to the side where Ashli was was completely broken out and Ahsli began climbing through it...why? Why did she do that?

I’ve been to D.C. many times as a tourist. I can tell you, the officers at the white house, capitol building don’t play around. Like it or not, they are trained for one purpose...guard these buildings. The reason the officer is that shot Ashli is not on trial is because under certain circumstances, they have the liberty to shoot to kill if the threat is perceived. I don’t know how Ashli was an imminent threat, but perception is reality I suppose.

You mean the FBI instigators? On that, we agree.

Pepsi's instant analysis: The Bush - RINO wing of the GOP is lining up to be the Trump killer. All the old Bushie's you haven't heard from in 10 years are suddenly popping up to get their name out. The campaign is on. Cruz has decided that he won't get Trump's support (or will have to run against him) so attacking the base (make no mistake, saying the Jan 6 event was terrorism is an implicit attack on the "deplorables" everywhere) will get him party support.

He fully expects (as do I) that the GOP will rig the nomination process so Trump or anyone like him CANNOT get it. Up to and including supporting charges against Trump, his family, all his staff, whatever it takes. It's hardball. And Cruz tool a side.

I am pretty sure Trump is just letting the current situation play out and knows that he doesn’t need to add anything. When the enemy is killing themselves, let them.

I keep hearing this, but by what measure are the Democrats killing themselves? To me they seem to have taken the smallest possible majority in Congress and are over exploiting it to the fullest extent possible. If you are referring to polls that show Republicans may win something back in 2022, well that remains to be seen.

As far as Ted Cruz is concerned, I cant’ even begin to describe how frustrating this is. What is he thinking? It is possible he has been trying to figure out a way to create distance between himself and Trump, but if that is what he is doing, this is a major miscalculation on his part. If that isn’t what he is doing, he is just stupid and wrong.

There is obviously a calculation being made there, just like with Trump cancelling his speech today. Add them up and the sum seems to be those supporters are expendable. Whether that is true remains to be seen as well. But t looks to me like we need some new blood on both counts going forward. Gaetz and Greene are the only ones showing any spine today from what I can tell.

He thinks he’s positioning himself to be attractive to the “soccer moms” and other snowflakes who are offended by Trump tweets. An example of Cruz’s “out-of-kilter” political instincts. He’s headed to be as politcally tone deaf as Hellary Clinton. 90+ of the GOP “rank-and-file” support Trump even with his unfortunate statements regarding the vaccines. (Sometimes saying nothing is the better thing to say !) Cruz clearly thinks that incident has given him an oppening. It hasn’t ! This is why I think Cruz’s personality (and perhaps his oerweening ambition!) makes him a poor presidential candidate. Senator is his terminal political postion. (Though he might do a a SC justice.) Maybe Senate majority leader might be his only possible upeard move. (Though I heare he’s thoroughly disliked by his senate colleagues. That might be a plus or a negative, probably a negative for majority leader!)
