Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) claimed Wednesday the January 6 protest of the 2020 election on Capitol Hill last year was a “violent terrorist attack.”
“We are approaching a solemn anniversary this week. And it is an anniversary of a violent terrorist attack on the Capitol, where we saw the men and women of law enforcement demonstrate incredible courage, incredible bravery, risk their lives for the Capitol,” Cruz said.
The Texas senator discussed the protests in an exchange with Capitol Police Chief Tom Manger during a Senate Rules Committee oversight hearing.
Cruz has defined the violent protests on Capitol Hill as terrorism before.
Just days after the 2021 protests, Cruz said, “We saw a terrorist attack on the United States Capitol. It was despicable. It was an assault on the citadel of democracy.”

He, juar like orher RINOs hold a grudge against Trump, for beating them like a rented mule.
Terrible statement by Cruz. Absolutely ridiculous. Only chance to clarify is if he says he was only talking about Antifa, and was taken out of context but that doesn’t appear to be the case.
Yet not one person is calling him on it. Not even Trump, who seems to be wearing a muzzle lately, unless he’s talking vaccines. Most probably see it as Trump’s fight, and if even he’s not willing to fight it…
The common denominator of all these brave souls taking issue with President Trump is they have a few years before they have to face the public.
In his case, 2024. It won’t be enough for people to forget. A primary challenge has 2 years to prepare.
Weird that no one has been charged with insurrection or terrorism if Cruz was correct .
I am pretty sure Trump is just letting the current situation play out and knows that he doesn’t need to add anything. When the enemy is killing themselves, let them.
As far as Ted Cruz is concerned, I cant’ even begin to describe how frustrating this is. What is he thinking? It is possible he has been trying to figure out a way to create distance between himself and Trump, but if that is what he is doing, this is a major miscalculation on his part. If that isn’t what he is doing, he is just stupid and wrong.
Ted Cruz is all about Ted Cruz’s ambition.

I agree, no way he runs. He will anoint a successor when the time is right. America isn’t electing another 79 year-old after the Biden debacle.
I think he actually doesn't want to run in 2024 and simply took himself out of the running early on.
Especially politicians/elected officials who get sucked in and enamored with the royal treatment they get, for what, winning an election and supposedly representing their constituents? They get driven around by chauffeurs, staff runs and gets them their meals, they get lavish trips and dinners by lobbyists, it doesn't take long for them to be convinced that they actually are royalty, and then they act like it and the truth seeps out.
