Some people love to be scared. Mary Shelley knew that when she wrote Frankenstein, and genres of fiction and film exist mining that desire for innocent fun and profit. But when politics enters the fray and fears are stoked to scare people into accepting costly and harmful policies, it is important to push back.
Two articles from last week illustrate the panic-mongering and the responsible citation of fact.
Breitbart highlights a prophet of doom from Rolling Stone magazine, home of the University of Virginia rape hoax story:
The massive Thwaites Glacier in Antarctica could "fall apart overnight" and raise sea levels by 10 feet, declares an article Thursday in Rolling Stone magazine.
The essay by Jeff Goodell, titled "'The Fuse Has Been Blown,' and the Doomsday Glacier Is Coming for Us All," states that cracks and fissures in the Thwaites eastern ice shelf suggest the Florida-sized ice mass "could fracture like a shattered car window in as little as five years."
The West Antarctic ice sheet "is one of the most important tipping points in the Earth's climate system," Goodell asserts. "If Thwaites Glacier collapses, it opens the door for the rest of the West Antarctic ice sheet to slide into the sea."

After watching the number of deaths the globalists have inflicted via Covid, I wouldn’t rule out their exploding a nuclear device on a fault line in the glacier.
LOL! ‘cept our house and maybe your house.
Did Al Gore recently visit Antarctica?
Without some explanation, your posted picture is useless and just a waste of bandwidth.
Well, my house is 12 feet above sea level, so I’m safe...............
The ice sheets in Antarctica and Greenland both rest on land.
I wonder if the Kerry’s, Gore’s, Obama’s, Clinton’s, and other distinguished democrats will be selling their beach front homes.
Be really cool to see what’s under all that ice, IMO.
Hillbillies don’t care.
Apparently he took a good dose of CONvid down there.
They need to learn to use some simple math to calculate VOLUME of a glacier, spread our over the entire ocean.
However, said event is unlikely to happen given that it is summer in Antarctica when it is winter in Greenland and vice versa.
Artic sea ice largest expansion in 18 years.
Exactly...I’ll wait for those folks to sell their homes.
Description
Sandhills are an inland habitat type characterized by rolling hills capped by deep coarse sands. They are wedged between the Coastal Plain and Piedmont regions of North and South Carolina. Scientists believe sandhills were formed by ancient oceans that rose and then receded in response to melting and freezing of polar ice caps. Beaches formed wherever the water met the land. Each time a beach formed, a sandhill was left behind when the ocean receded.
That’s one big area. If you took a scoop of dirt most anywhere south of the sand hills you can see small seashells in it.
Here’s a map;
Everything in the US directly south of there was underwater before the major ice age melt. Hmmm.
It’s summer down there, but the beaches are less than optimal.
They’ve been 100 percent wrong on the long range. Now they’re going for the short range…why?
I forgot to add that if I didn’t live in this area south of the sand hills, I probably wouldn’t know about them. Definitely doesn’t fit the seas are rising/sky is falling narrative.
You didn't see that dumb mivie, it seems.
PSSST!
I’ve got a hot tip on a special REIT for beachfront property near Rachel, NV.
I can get you in for a small finder’s fee.
