Why is it that almost all politicians do so many “recreational” drugs?

Around 31 million Europeans are living in energy poverty

And getting energy from the russkies via pipeline that can be shut off at anytime, is a solution to this?

It seems to me that the problem could be more easily solved by the complete eradication of Stupid people in positions of power and influence.

Every time they create a new problem they invent a new word to pretend they didn’t create the new problem.

We now have a new malady, “energy poverty.”

Yep, you can eradicate poverty by making things more expensive and more scarce. Who would have thunk it.

“We want to avoid that decarbonisation makes this problem worse,”

We don't want crop destruction to create famine.

Prog. There is no cure.

If poverty is relative then making the masses equally energy-poor eliminates energy poverty.
Of course the ruling class will still have their fossil fuels, they can’t be expected to go without.

“with EU governments scrambling to alleviate the burden on the most vulnerable households with short-term measures such as direct income support. “

Great. Instead of increasing energy availability, hand out more money to increase inflation. What could go wrong.

EU draft on financing nuclear and gas plants raises ire

BRUSSELS (AP) - Draft European Union plans that would allow nuclear and gas energy to remain part of the bloc’s path to a climate-friendly future came under immediate criticism over the weekend from both environmentalists and some governing political parties in EU member nations.

“eradicate energy poverty” once and for all,

Will work as well as LBJ's programs to eradicate poverty once and for all.

These people don’t really want green energy — they want the wealth that green energy investments will produce for them and their elite friends. But, in order to grow a new industry, you have to kill or cripple the old industry. So, they convince enough people that they have to adopt these new industries to stop climate change, while they laugh all the way to the bank.

The same goes for plant-based meats. That’s why Bill Gates, China and others are buying lots of farmland. They are hedging their bets on the alternative meat industry (grown here, processed in China), but in order to establish and grow that industry you have to kill the old meat industry (i.e. cow farts are bad for the planet!). It will take a massive amount of land to grow enough plant-based food to produce marketable quantities of fake meat.

And it’s all for the sake of saving the planet, of course... but there are plenty of wealthy elites who won’t mind becoming trillionaires along the way.
