COVID-positive Vermonters with no symptoms clog up ERs

RUTLAND, Vt. (WCAX) - Some Vermonters who are able to find antigen tests and then test positive are clogging up emergency rooms.

The emergency department at the Rutland Regional Medical Center has been overwhelmed with asymptomatic folks.

Dr. Rick Hildebrant is RRMC’s medical director. He says some people who test positive with a rapid test go to the emergency room looking for a PCR test.

Hildebrant says those who are asymptomatic and receive a positive antigen test should stay home and reach out to their primary care provider.

He says the only time to go to the ER is if you have a positive test and are very sick.

Hildebrant says the flood of asymptomatic people is preventing others in need of immediate care from getting it.

“It’s not so much the beds that are the precious resource, it’s the staff at this time. So we have to have some of our clinical staff providing care to those people and they can’t provide care to the folks in the ER,” Hildebrant explained.

The Vermont Hospital Association says it’s hearing similar stories from other parts of the state.

Hildebrant says those who are asymptomatic and receive a positive antigen test should stay home and reach out to their primary care provider.

“It’s not so much the beds that are the precious resource, it’s the staff at this time. So we have to have some of our clinical staff providing care to those people and they can’t provide care to the folks in the ER,” Hildebrant explained.

Hildebrant says health department PCR testing is the best option for asymptomatic people, even though the results take a little longer.

He says by going to the emergency department, you are also potentially exposing yourself to someone with COVID who is very sick.

Testing, testing, testing. Heaven forbid that they might encourage people to proactively take some of the OTC prophylactics and protocols that have been recommended by many doctors.

Good point. Lots of times the MEDICAL people are treating anything like COVID as lepers. They won’t touch them. Of all people who should be helping…medical has actually been the worst.

Never mind if you have other problems and get bumped because of sniffles. Trust me, I know. Zero compassion.

1. If they are understaffed maybe they shouldn’t have let go the employees who didn’t want the vax.

2. Maybe they should stop scaring people.

Well, the public health establishment and the media have been pushing panic for going on two years now, so we really shouldn’t be surprised.

As for myself - life goes on pretty much as normal. Every now and then I am forced to mask up to accomplish something I need to do, even if I don’t like it.

if they are not sick, WHY are they in the emergency room???

Most were probably required to get tested for work, for travel, to go to a Christmas Party or who knows what other moronic reason. When the test came back positive, they were probably advised to go to the emergency room to get prescription drugs. It is a completely screwed up system.

Apparently Vermont has no means to refer obviously insane folk to some sort of asylum.

Someone gets tested ( a questionable test created by companies paid to push a disease, its vax, and tests ) by a med “professional” also paid extra $$$ to diagnose this same malady; and even without any symptoms they demand medical treatment.

Do they also hear voices?

Why are people, who have no symptoms, taking the tests?

Are they also, just randomly, taking pregnancy tests? In cast they catch pregnancy?

This is so crazy that people are often actively DISCOURAGED from using early treatment options. I suppose doing that might make you fall under suspicion of being a Trump supporter or a “science denier” or a dupe of “Russian disinformation.”

The EUA for the PCR tests is being withdrawn at the end of the month.

I have never gone to a doctor or hospital with the Flu or anything else if I DO NOT HAVE ANY SYMPTOMS!

This testing is just a fraudulent way of keeping the Covid deception going for political purposes only.

Highest rate of state-wide vaccination. Cases follow the rate of vaccination.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

My youngest brother, who is very ‘science-y’ (in a good way) & is usually ‘up’ on the latest, was telling me last night that info he had previously believed on ivermectin “was ALL false!”. Some really bad info came out of someone in TX (it will kill you, overdoses, etc.) & he actually fell for it. I wish I had known this at the time - I could have straightened him out in a hurry.

He has since been ‘educated’ ... now has enough ivermectin on hand to prophylact for 14 weeks or treat if he gets it. His wife’s doc actually wrote her a prescription for it, so some docs (aside from the well-know early ‘treaters’) appear to be seeing the light. BTW, bro’s fully vaccinated AND boosted daughter (lives in NYC) came down with C19 last week ... probably Omicron version. She’s doing ok, but missed Christmas with the family.
