Common sense fail! Woke California school boards BAN teachers from giving D and F grades and will instead offer students chance to try work again or mark it as 'incomplete' in a bid to help black, Latino and low-income students during the pandemic

High school students studying in some of California's largest school districts will no longer be given a D or F grade for poor work, and will instead be allowed to take the tests or complete the work again.

The new system has been introduced due to the pandemic, with supporters arguing that it reduces the stress levels for already-traumatized and unsettled students.

Not only students. Adults didn't pay rent or mortgage; thought they were skating, and getting away with it...and when it all came to an end, what happened?

I figured at the time that a D meant that I wouldn’t have to take the class again. It was my way of optimizing effort.

If they really wanted to help they would offer testing at the beginning of the school year and remedial classes to have them catch up.

But that would cost more money, so it's better to pay teachers a full salary and pretend that they are successful.

For the past 2 years, we simply make USC and UCLA grads take a spelling or English comprehension test.

MOST of them fail.

They ALWAYS fail the part of using “loose” and “lose” in a sentence. They are total morons. And during the interview, they say “it’s like, you know” TEN TIMES in 60 seconds. WTF!

Reminds me of my experiences 40 years ago. I was an Adjunct Professor at a local college in the evenings (paid for my Kids' college tuition). The college had numerous veterans attending evening classes under the GI Bill. Most were serious about their classes but some merely used the nights out to spend a few hours at a nearby bar and cruised into class very late and "Out of it". Many times I would be called to the Dean's office and be requested to change an F or D grade to a C..., the Dean would say that the student needed their GI Bill checks and wouldn't qualify if their GPA got too low (actually, the college needed their GI Bill benefits and grades be damned).

We always had the same discussion that my students earned whatever grade they were given and I wasn't going to change the grade of someone just so they could continue to get a check! I would see some of these "students" on campus later but never in my classes. I'm sure their grades magically increased somehow to maintain their GI Bill benefits!!!

If the teaching had been fulltime on my part I'm sure the pressure to give all students passing grades would have been much greater!!
