Nice!
I requested that book from Santa, so I’ll be reading it in a few weeks, too.
So blowing sunshine up a gluteous blob is a thing...
Who knew?
I was the assistant tower chief controller, at Travis. I sometimes said to my subordinates, look at that Galaxy on the ramp. Isn’t it amazing, how the wind blew and caused that C-5, to put itself together? Of course, they would say, no, that C-5 was built by Lockheed. I would say, yes, you are right. Now, how can anyone say, that the universe, which is infinitely more complex, than that C-5 on the ramp, suddenly have a big bang, and randomly throw itself together? I said, sorry, I am not buying that theory, for a second.
One of these days; scientists will discover...
Well, at least THIS little chunk of rock is!!!
Naturalism and uniformitarianism, the satanic faith of the lost, being deceived once, and again.
In simplistic equations it it relatively safe to say, “ let us assume” in complex arguments including untold numbers of independent variables, “let us assume” equates to “let’s ignore”....
Romans 5 has a bit to say regarding this case.
Sorry, but 'probability' of something happening depends on ALL factors that enter into it being known.
Since there are MANY blanks in our knowledge, the odds of something happening CANNOT be calculated.
Glad he realized, at some point in his life, just what the writer of Romans meant:
Romans 1:20 NIV
For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.
You can request a book from Satan, and he’ll send you one for free.
Genesis 1:2
Could not agree less with your mormon beliefs - “In the beginning God” indicates He even created time itself.
It’s not referred to as ‘ex nihilo’ for nothing (tongue in cheek, grin, grin, grin).
“Apparently.”
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
LOL ... that’s pretty good from a double-PhD physician from Cornell. Hopefully, one day his answer will be “absolutely”.
From the book:
... the most famous atheist in the world was asked which argument was the best from the “other” side - meaning the side that argued FOR the existence of God.
Hitchens was very rarely anything other than a forensics bully, never conceding a grain to the other side of the scale, even when he knew the truth was otherwise. For him the affair was less about finding the truth than humiliating his opponent at any cost, evidently believing the audience wouldn’t know the difference.
But it so happened in this unique case - for reasons we may never know - that he answered quickly and honestly. “It is the fine-tuned argument,” he said. “The fine-tuning, that one degree, well, one degree, one hair [of difference] ... even though it doesn’t prove design, doesn’t prove a Designer .... You have to spend time thinking about it working on it. It’s not a trivial [argument]. We all say that.”
This was a rather dramatic concession from the self styled enfant-terrible-turned-snarly-curmudgeon who generally conceded nothing , lest it give comfort to the scoundrels who dared take the other side of the debate over whether God exists. When he said “We all say that, “ Hitchens meant the three others - Richard Dawkins, Daniel Dennett, and Sam Harris - who had come to be known as “The Four Horsemen of the New Atheism” ..... These celebrated proponents of the “New Atheism” had heard many arguments against their view, but Hitchens said it was this one - the argument of a “fine-tuned” universe - that they all thought the best.
The first half of the book on increasing, undeniable scientific evidence for God’s existence is simply breathtaking ... and Metaxas does a simply brilliant job of laying it out for all to understand.
I also read Is Atheism Dead. Wonderful book. Eric Metaxas did a ton of research in science and Biblical archaeology for our benefit. I was so impressed, I also read his book on Wilberforce, which is also very good.
