One earlier report said that when the police raided the family’s home, they hauled out many other guns. It sounds like there might have been several different guns within reach of the kid.

They are going to prison.
And then there are the lawsuits…….
By their own deeds, they are so screwed.

Does that equal a charge of involuntary manslaughter for both parents?

Or,is this a case they will go for a lesser plea of reckless something or other?

As long as the Media reaps rewards for mass murder in schools, they will continue to promote mass murder in schools.

This is cause more by Media contagion than by availability of firearms.

The fact the parents are *not* being charged with the illegal purchase of a weapon has a reason. They did not purchase it illegally.

The Media pushes these events specifically because they see them as useful for promoting their agenda.

The ability of some Freepers to do deep psychological analysis and understanding of character by a mere single photograph has always astounded me.

Normally I’d say you’re right on that, but this kid looks like the demented son of Satan and Mark David Chapman.

I have heard this all along. Definitely looked true when the kid posted a photo of the gun and said he needed to take it for target practice. Kid’s hand was on the gun. (sig sauer)

Not impressed with the prosecutor. She went on about how he should not have been allowed to return to class... Who is in control of the school? Not the parents. There are probably other culpable people, but they are government (school) employees, so they will get a pass.

No kidding. They are all in the office and no one checks out the kid's possessions, but it is part and parcel of a manslaughter charge here and nothing there. Sure. Makes sense. /s

“The dad had bought the semi-automatic 9mm Sig Sauer handgun his son allegedly used ...”

“...having purchased a gun for the teen...”

Did dad actually purchase the gun “for the teen”?

Did dad GIVE the gun to the teen?

or

Did dad say anything like “When you are 18 I’ll give to you this gun that I bought for you.”

I’m not a lawyer, but isn’t “intent” necessary here. Won’t they have to show that the parents KNEW (intent) that the kid was going to kill people with it?

I don’t know these people. Maybe they have no teeth and a still in the backyard next to their weed and poppy garden.

Maybe they bought the gun for their son so he could go shoot those people that bullied him.

We will see. Right now, all speculation.

Telling the kid not to talk to authorities... ALWAYS a smart move, for ANYONE!

ANY and ALL information you give them WILL BE used AGAINST YOU! Whether you are guilty or INNOCENT!

Just say “LAWYER”. And then... DON’T SAY ANOTHER WORD. While “what” you say after asking for a lawyer can’t be used in court, anything you say may help in their investigation to CONVICT (frame) YOU!

It’s NOT about justice. It’s THEM vs US. WINNING vs losing.

Prosecutors are EVIL. They will do ANYTHING to WIN!

DON’T HELP THEM!

When discussing guns or abortion, I always argue that the issues would be settled if our society respected life.

Entertainment is teaching (conditioning) the young that firearms are to be used.

37 posts and finally someone with some common sense. FReepers disappoint me when they follow the media.

Millions of families with firearms in the house. One commits a crime and suddenly the bleeding hearts run forth with big government solutions.

This was a tragedy, but one committed by the boy.

When I was younger I knew a kid who killed his sister with a dumbbell to the head. He then stabbed himself to try to draw attention away. The dumbbell was never blamed nor were his parents even though as I recall he was under psychiatric care at the time. There was never a call for dumbbell control

"...the day of the shooting, a teacher saw drawings on Crumbley’s desk which led to the parents being called into school. The drawings included a picture of a semi-automatic handgun pointed at the words “the thoughts won’t stop, help me” and “blood everywhere,” along with a picture of someone shot and bleeding. The drawing also contained the words “my life is useless” and “the world is dead.”

When the parents met with their son and counselor, they did not inspect his backpack or ask him about the gun..."

Both the parents and the counselor HAD A RESPONSIBILITY to inspect the backpack, under those circumstances!!!!!

If I were the teacher who saw the drawings that would have been the first thing I did, before reporting anything. ( I don't care what the "rules" are!!!!)

I have to admit he may not be looking his best after killing 3 classmates and injury several more.

The Columbine kids didn’t look crazy. Most don’t but still do this stuff. Lanza and this evil psycho though.. Especially with all the parents knew about him. They needed a good safe and this probably wouldn’t have happened.
