Ethan Crumbley’s parents have been charged with involuntary manslaughter in connection to the Michigan school shooting allegedly carried out by their 15-year-old son.
The charges for James and Jennifer Crumbley stem from having purchased a gun for the teen in the days ahead of the deadly shooting.
Their son is already being held without bail on murder and terrorism charges over Tuesday’s Oxford High School rampage that left four dead and seven injured in the deadliest US school shooting of the year.
Officials had hinted for days that the parents — who told their son not to talk to investigators — could face charges.
The dad had bought the semi-automatic 9mm Sig Sauer handgun his son allegedly used just four days earlier, on Black Friday, officials previously revealed.

When asked about criminality by the school she responded the investigation is ongoing.
But the parents raised him without values. Knew he was having trouble and then . . . bought him a gun!!! I think the parents are even more culpable than the kid.
Agree on both and I would add that schools need highly trained armed security officers as well and they should be trained to be in on the parental meetings along with the school psychologist ANF the kid and his bag should have been searched. Lots of mistakes here, as usual.
He killed her. If she was alive then she should’ve been thrown in for 5-10.
I think that the “lol” came after he got caught browsing for ammo on his cellphone. That’s when “Next time, don’t get caught” probably was texted.
“The dad had bought the semi-automatic 9mm Sig Sauer handgun his son”
PROVE IT!!!
No, but they should.
IMO, the school, including a counselor present in the meeting, had more than enough information and responsibility to call law enforcement before he was allowed to go back to classes, regardless of what the parents wanted. The school stipulated the kid was to receive counseling within 48 hours, indicating they saw reason for concern. The safety of the kids in that school should have been first and foremost. They dropped the ball.
That’s info the DA stated in a matter of fact way. No qualifiers. It *may* have been mentioned in the parent conference.
This is why the parents are angry at the school and the DA said she’d be angry too!
You are correct. Not sure how I got that messed up but thanks for the correction.
Michigan law:

or by imprisonment in the county jail for not
Good. Parents can and should be held accountable for the actions of their children.
She IS angry. Heads need to roll at that school. Today. If the parents are held responsible, the school must be as well.
sippenhaft
Typical case. The kid was nuts before the gun was an issue. Parents should be held accountable for not getting the kid treatments for mental problems.
Because the parents already knew he was having behavior problems at school and then they gave him a gun.
An opportunity for intimidation of all of us. It seems like a right move to enough that it will never be challenged.
Did the school shrink have the boy pycotrophic drugs?
