In the film industry you often point firearm at live people and shoot live blanks at them as well. This is well established practice in the industry any one who has worked on set knows this. There are specific protocols in place to ensure that those weapons are “cold” the industry term for not loaded with lethal ammunition and there for safe to use one set. People just demonstrate their complete ignorance to how the industry works by spewing blanket statements they have no factual backing for. How do you think action movies are filmed they are not CGI nearly every one is with prop guns that are verified cold on set.

Anyone have single action that can corroborate?

I know at half-cock the cylinder will rotate.

At full cock the mechanism is engaged to pull the trigger releasing the hammer to strike.

To release half-cock back to hammer arrest I think you have to squeeze the trigger a little bit and control a hammers descent on back into its resting position.

Is there a point between half cock and full cock if that if the hammer is let go it will return to the firing pin on assisted?

I’m not sure but I don’t think so, but I could be wrong cuz I’ve never had a single action.

And don’t point a gun at anyone unless you intend to shoot them… this is manslaughter at a minimum and he needs to be charged.

You don’t have to have your finger on the trigger. Take that single action put a round in it under the hammer chamber and pull the hammer back until it starts to resist at the half cocked sear then let go of that hammer. You better not be pointing it at anything important because that gun is going to fire without the trigger even being touched. Only modern guns have trigger actuated firing pin blocks. Take a 1865 colt and do the above procedure it will fire 8 out of 10 times

“Baldwin says that Hutchins told him to begin cocking the hammer for a particular shot. “

I wonder if this is going to be a big part of their defense.. “She told me to do it.”

Easy to solve. Mandatory gun training and license for all people on a movie set. Daily training before the start of filming each day. It’s time for government to protect the innocent! Of course all movie personal should strongly support such acts because they believe government is the solution!

“Find a tall tree and a short rope.”

Cormac McCarthy describes various ways folks was hanged out west, in several of his stories.

No trees? No prob. Lasso the feet, lasso the neck and let the horses do the rest.

Movie sets are a special case. During active filming and dry run rehearsals firearms are routinely pointed at across by actors that’s part of the industry. The armor and directors job and legal responsibility is to ensure that protocol is followed and the weapons are cold weapons. The armor and acting director on this scene probably will face negligence charges the actor is not in the chain of ensuring the weapon is cold in most sets. It is common practice to point and even fire live blanks at greater than 15 feet at live humans. I personally have done this during theater performance another instance where it is normal to fire an otherwise functional firearm at a human with blanks triple checked as such.

So he tried to half cock the gun.

While I am not 100% familiar with that specific revolver, if you have a mechanical issue and the hammer falls on the primer and goes bang.

There are some older guns that was a known issue.

Exactly!

My uncle had an older replica revolver that he showed us that very issue. Which is why he never carried a full cylinder on any revolver (more because he had a mix and didn’t want to forget).

They have the gun, I'm sure it was closely looked at by experts. Plus, they have video. He's using the old "the car accelerator malfunctioned and caused be to crash into the crowd" excuse.

People keep saying this loser is going to skate. I agree with you. He’s walking dead.

I would safely bet and I don’t gamble, there is a recording of this commie shooting the Colt 45. He’s been coached to deflect what the video evidence clearly illustrates and this is why the story is changing.

I didn’t think I could despise this sad excuse for a man anymore than I currently do, but this little love fest with the worm Stephanopolis makes me sick and I pray this prick and the worm Stephanopolis’ too, remaining time on this rock is a living Hell.

My heart aches for the family of the deceased woman’s family. I hope they own everything this loser ever had and will ever have for the next 20 years.

BTW-If I ever hear anymore about the losers fraudster wife, HILARIA, I think my head will explode. I cannot imagine being around her, ever, talk about 2 completely insane people!

“Is there a point between half cock and full cock if that if the hammer is let go it will return to the firing pin on assisted?”

On 1860s designed single action you bet your backsides there is a point. It is where the term going off half cocked originated. If the hammer is not locked back against one of two sears it will swing back forward under the spring pressure you just tensioned by pulling it back, this also will rotate the cylinder backwards to under the firing pin it is the unwinding of the hammer spring driving this action. Nearly every time the hammer comes home with enough energy to light off the round. You don’t even have to have your finger inside the trigger guard as the trigger is not involved in this form of a accidental discharge.

I have some questions for people experienced with single action revolvers. If you pull back the hammer without cocking it and release it while holding the trigger back, will it go off (assuming it was loaded of course)? I think it would because it would be like fanning the gun. If so, would it still go off if it had a transfer bar system? If you hold the hammer back nearly all the way and release it while not touching the trigger, would it fire if there was no transfer bar? Thanks for your help.
