France is ready for a serious discussion with Britain on issues relating to illegal migration, but will not be held hostage to London's domestic politics, the country's Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin said.

The two countries are already at loggerheads over post-Brexit trading rules and fishing rights and last week relations soured further after 27 people died trying to cross the Channel.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson wrote to President Emmanuel Macron setting out five steps the two countries could take to deter migrants from making the perilous journey. One of those - sending illegal migrants back to France - particularly angered Paris.

France is ready for a serious discussion with Britain

"XXX is ready for a serious discussion with YYY" usually means that XXX wants to dictate terms to YYY, tell YYY to shut up, and not listen to a single word that YYY says.

This is common when the left says, "We need to have a serious discussion about ...".

If I’m France, doesn’t launching these folks across the channel toward Britain seem like a good plan?

Why not launch them towards North Africa? They’d have an easier time assimilating and being assimilated there. There’s a country called Algeria that the French vacated especially for them.

More like an Excellent Plan, as the UK is significantly more at fault than France, for destabilizing the Middle East and North Africa for the last three decades, and France is geographically more vulnerable to migrant ME Terrorists.

I assume these folks feel there’s gonna be a lot more social program gravy in Britain than Algeria.

Your example would be like illegal Mexicans wanting to go to Haiti instead of the US.

They would be much safer in the Falklands.

They could weave rugs from Falklands wool.

I prefer the Burma solution to convincing illegal Muslims to leave.

Those countries who offer the greatest supply of gravy will have the highest demand for entry.

The UK needs to denounce the Refugee Convention by invoking Article 44.

Hitler had it wrong.

He should have just said publicly that his troops were "migrating" to France and England...

How about the UK just denouncing the United Nations?

Yeah, “Lets compromise by adopting our position.”

Rush used to state that compromising with a Leftist should
remind folks that they won’t be happy until you are dead.

They will compromise as long as you still wind up dead.
