The jury has reached a verdict in the trial of Travis McMichael and his father, Gregory, and their neighbor, William "Roddie" Bryan.
The three men, who are white, each face charges of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, false imprisonment and criminal attempt to commit a felony in the shooting death of Ahmaud Arbery, 25, who was Black, on Feb. 23, 2020, in Georgia.
They face up to life in prison if convicted of the more serious charges.
The nearly all-white jury, which has one Black member, began deliberating the men's fate on Tuesday.
“They chased a Black guy down a street”
Why is the race of the guy being chased important to you? You capitalized it and everything.
The optics are not helpful
Several whites who look like me accost man who likely is casing houses to pilfer in a neighborhood used to burglaries etc
They are armed
A struggle ensues with the black man grabbing the business end of the firearm in the process
He’s shot....dead
Given today’s culture
They will be guilty of something
Is this accurate....I’m ignorant of the case....just a dilettante observance
Willing to be informed by someone impartial here who’s following it
Thanks
Is this the precedent for a riot no matter the verdict? This verdict screams guilty, but even if that happens I do not think that will stop the riots
Out of over 150 juror prospects, it was hard to find any blacks that haven’t already decided the guys are guilty
Notice how quick they get the race angle going here compared to the black guy who ran over the kids (and for which the story is rapidly fading)
Travis McMichael guilty guilty of murder.
If you mention someone’s skin color, you are racist.
If you don’t mention skin color, you are racist.
It’s the Kobayashi Maru Scenario.
“Whatever the verdict, this decision, unlike the one in Wisconsin, is not a hill to die on.”
It’s not a hill at all.
If it is guilty it’d be two good verdicts in a row in these high profile cases.
It’d almost be as if the justice systems works.
Probably manslaughter charges….
Yup, it’s going to be guilty as charged on all counts for all three defendants. Just heard the first three verdicts and that sets the tone.
Honestly, its the correct verdict
“Probably manslaughter charges….”
If that’s an option.
Travis McMichael guilty on all counts.
Guilty down the list.
That is a good summary.
From what I have seen (which is very little) this doesn’t look like a righteous shooting. It appears kid was having a look/see in the house under construction, and didn’t appear to be surveilling it for a future action.
They chose to vent their frustration from a previous burglary on this kid.
We’ll see how it plays out.
Gregory McMichael guilty of felony murder not malice murder. Guilty on all other charges.
Why do they repeat the same convictions multiple times?
Ex- All the felony murder charges.
