Jurors in the Ahmaud Arbery slay case started deliberating Tuesday over the fate of the three white men accused of killing the black unarmed jogger in Georgia last year.
Gregory McMichael, 65, his son Travis McMichael, 35, and their neighbor William “Roddie” Bryan, 52, are charged with murder, aggravated assault and other crimes in the shooting death of Arbery, 25, who they suspected was fleeing a burglary as he ran through their neighborhood near Brunswick.
Superior Court Judge Timothy Walmsley told the jurors Tuesday, “It is your duty to consider the facts objectively without favor, affection, or sympathy to anyone.”
Walmsley directed them to retire to the jury room, where they began officially deliberating the case at 11:53 a.m..

They tried. But in Georgia, as in I think every other state, if you initiate the incident and things go wrong and you kill someone then you can't claim self defense. The McMichael's started it so they're responsible for anything that happened.
This trio gives gun owners a bad name. This case should show the woke nutjobs why we need the police!
Regarding the citizen’s arrest statute, there is immediate knowledge “or” prior suspicion, but the state and the court have told the jury it’s both (”and”).
The whole thing should have never happened.
You think he’s stealing, call the cops.
Who was fighting over the shotgun: the guys in the truck or the guy they were chasing?
I stand corrected. You accurately describe the statute, and the court’s instructions do not appear to reflect what the law actually says.
Serves me right to take the Judge’s word for it.
Here’s the statute:
“O.C.G.A. 17-4-60 – “A private person may arrest an offender if the offense is committed in his presence or within his immediate knowledge. If the offense is a felony and the offender is escaping or attempting to escape, a private person may arrest him upon reasonable and probable grounds of suspicion.”
“reasonable and probable grounds of suspicion”, which would take in the totality of the circumstances. That’s not what was in the jury instructions we heard on the news this morning.
“You think he’s stealing, call the cops.”
According to reports I’ve heard, they did call the cops. Over and over and over. They would come, the bad guy would be gone, they would move on. The neighborhood had gone from completely safe to parents not letting kids out of their sight, having to worry about putting everything away so it wouldn’t get stolen, etc. What would you do?
JESSIE JACKSON Has NEVER had a church-—or a congregation.
He is as much a ‘Reverend” as I am a cruise ship captain.
Black guy on foot seems to have been a habitual & chronic PROWLER.
“What would you do?”
Not rot in prison over a hammer.
Well in that case, totally worth killing him and getting raped in prison for life.
Gun owners, neighborhood watch, people in general, you name it. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. The McMichael's may be about to find out just how stupid their prize can be.
And the felony was?
“The black guy grabbed the barrel of the shotgun.”
What would you do if you thought someone was going to shoot you?
Ummm put my hands up and surrender. They said he was under arrest. He resisted and tried to grab the barrel of the gun. Wanna guess how that would have turned out? Who the hell grabs the barrel of a shotgun anyways?
Agreed. But I imagine the McMichael's response would have been "where's the fun in that"?
“Like the Rittenhouse case, those who have followed the trial and listened to the evidence understand it’s another political prosecution to placate Antifa-BLM, and the defendants are not guilty and never should have been charged.”
You and I are in the minority on this subject. I guess most people are willing to let criminals run rampant in their neighborhoods when the police can’t or won’t stop them. Sad.
Arbery and the younger McMichael. This was after the elder McMichael in the truck had told Arbery to stop or he would blow his head off. Not unreasonable to assume Arbery feared for his life so he fought for the gun.
Don’t forget Roddy. He had to have a piece of the action too. And the GBI Agents let him have it. They are about have a belly full of fun.
