We fully expected the Times to make excuses for Biden. And at first, it looks as though that is what Irwin is going to do, writing that “presidents have less control over the economy than headlines might suggest.” But then he adds that “the current situation is an exception to the rule.”
And even more remarkable is what comes next. Irwin writes:
"You can draw a direct line from a specific policy decision that Biden and congressional Democrats made this past winter to some of the inflation happening now.
"In designing the stimulus that Congress passed in March, Biden’s administration went big, with $1.9 trillion in pandemic relief — on top of a separate $900 billion package that passed three months earlier. Put the two together, and $2.8 trillion in federal money has been coursing through the economy this year while economic activity has trended only a few hundred billion dollars a year short of what mainstream analysts would consider full health."
The fact that the Times, along with others in the mainstream media, admits that inflation is a problem is in itself a noteworthy development, since for months it insisted that it was just a data anomaly – one that Republicans were trying to exploit for political gain.
Now, with prices for many common household goods having gone up by double digits over the past few months and no end in sight for the trend, the inflation story is impossible to ignore.
But the fact that any one of these “news” outlets is willing to blame Biden for the inflation spiral is a truly stunning development, given they’d spent months blasting out “fact checks” that aggressively slapped down any such claim.

How bad is it?
It’s so bad that there are rumors that there are senior Democrat operatives floating Pete Buttigieg (!) as a replacement in 2024.
Man, that’s bad. As in, hilariously bad. Coffee-snorting hilarious.
Schadenfreude. It’s what’s for breakfast!
Biden are harris are useful idiots and are being used as such.
The first 900 billion was enough to tip the scales but NO, they had to double that one and extend the unemployment bonus and all to infinity and beyond. That created all of our woes today.
If the NYT is no longer on board with any particular Democrat, there’s villainy afoot that has emerged from the smoky cloakroom. He/they better resign before Arkanacide decides their fate.
Good point. The Times and the dim party are on the same team. Looks like the party is using their paper to send a signal to the party that joe’s days are numbered and that other dims had better start separating away from him.
So if they flush both SlowJoe and Kamalamadingdong, the ticket for 2024 is gonna look quite different.
That’s how I’m interpreting it as well. Biden can’t be allowed to run in 2024 and probably Kamala too so the DNC is starting the process to replace both.
The party line is that anyone who complains about inflation is a right wing terrorist extremist.
I guess the NYT will need to be raided by the FBI!
Another thought is there is a legal procedure to replace a President or VP. But the dims ignore laws and federal law enforcement is on their side, so there is no telling how all this will play out.
Legal procedure in the Constitution - impeachment & trial in the Senate & the 25th Amendment.
A lot of “expets” say the 25th is poorly written and too vague in its procedures. Reading it, looks pretty vague about what to do to me. However vague or not it’s there.
I doubt that, but they are afraid their readership will decline along with BRAINDEAD BIDENS so called presidency.
They may have come to the conclusion that trying to pull a “WEEKEND AT BERNIES” with PEDO JOE just might sink them forever!
Yeah, you’re right I was being overly optimistic...
Thanks GOPJ. The Slimes lost all of us long ago, because it's just a shill sheet for the DNC.
The Times might be turning against Biden because they want a bigger more powerful commie thug to push around the little people.
Biden isn’t on the ballot now. Fake News is 100% about the midterms and protecting swing district Dems.
That's a good post. Several things follow from that. When the House flips GOP -- and it will -- Nanzi, Hoyer, and Clyburn are OUT, whether they retire or not, they are all OUT of Minority House Leadership.
You will see a catfight like none ever witnessed where The Squat demands one of them get either Nanzi's or Hoyer's position.
“That’s a good post. “
Thanks. I got a good laugh from that, because yesterday I got a “you are so FOS.” Which does not stand for Full Operational Status. It might have been on the same post, but not sure.
