Both sides have rested their case and they proceed to try to convince the jury that their client is either guilty as charged (including lesser offenses) or Not Guilty by reason of self-defense.
So far, my favorite line from the trial came from the prosecution:
ADA Binger: "Mr. Rittenhouse, you play Call of Duty, right? Isn't the goal of that game to kill everyone in sight?"
KYLE: "Well, yea, but it is a game . . . it isn't reality."

It is. It’s also a fact. So many misrepresentations in that schpeel.

person would think he was a pompous punk if he listed everything relevant in his training. At a murder trial, this is comically trivial.

I think it was a subconscious natural primal compulsive “Safety Bubble” for children that inspired the first statement she made. Unfortunately it also happens to align with current Liberal “Safety for everyone over rights” ideology...
This prosecutor has changed the old saying. If you don’t have the facts, argue the law, if you don’t have the law, argue the facts. If you don’t have the facts or the law say something stupid???

Richards has moved from water to gatoraid. Watch out when he goes for the red bull.
This is a pretty good closing. He makes his point, associates it with evidence, and moves on to next point.
Great move to use prosecution witnesses to create reasonable doubt.
I think Binger will need to puff the magic dragon after this.
Fishtalk is a odd woman who likes to dominate Free Republic. She is a pathetically needy woman who is annoying but perhaps harmless. Or maybe not.
One side would have us eliminate the police, allow people to steal from stores without consequence, and destroy public and private property. Already, there are prosecutors in several cities who have adopted this concept, and many of us wonder what we can do to avoid this.
Sure, Rittenhouse is young by many standards, but he has already shown a very responsible attitude in that he cared enough about his community to try to help. He was doing more that most adults were, and he is criticized for his age? It is the adults who have created this environment!
Make no mistake. Any attention to the trial and the DA in the case reveals that the larger issue being presented is the ownership of guns, and the use of guns to stop the mob. Their weapons are rocks, bottles, and fire. They fear guns!
Putting Kyle Rittenhouse in jail makes a grand statement to those who are even thinking of battling against the BLM rioters. And that statement simply is- Do NOT try to protect yourself- we will run you over.
Indeed, Kyle Rittenhouse is making a stand for all of us who respect the right to protect ourselves, and if he goes down, we are in big trouble.
You’re right but that woman has annoyed me for a very long time and her ignorant attempt to be relevant here just got my goat.
Richards is working up to the blob photo and going to lay out how the weapon is carried, held, and raised.
Richards tells the jury that the FBI searched Rittenhouse phone - with permission of Rittenhouse. Found nothing.
Contrasts with prosecutor not looking at Grosweitz phone even with a warrant. State didn’t even look. Prosecutor is protecting Grossweitz.
It appears that from day one Richards knew that he really only needed the closing argument to put this whole thing to rest . . . at any rate . . . there is enough for this to be overturned on appeal if he was wrong.
