Both sides have rested their case and they proceed to try to convince the jury that their client is either guilty as charged (including lesser offenses) or Not Guilty by reason of self-defense.
So far, my favorite line from the trial came from the prosecution:
ADA Binger: "Mr. Rittenhouse, you play Call of Duty, right? Isn't the goal of that game to kill everyone in sight?"
KYLE: "Well, yea, but it is a game . . . it isn't reality."
Right. Kyle is not on trial for his arguably imprudent decision to be there. He’s on trial for defending himself against what he perceived as a imminent threat to his life and limb. The jury needs to keep their wits about them and focus on the evidence.
3rd grade level talk! You are intellectually and emotionally weak. No shame in that, but if you wish to push your weakness based nonsense on the public, expect harsh pushback. We can’t afford for weak people to have the floor. They need to shut up and go to the back of the room.
FIRST OFF I AM A FEMALE!
All I did was try to start a discussion, a discussion about something that bothers me.
I am not afraid of guns, have one, loaded, by my bedside.
But so many know more than me but what.....you’re not allow to discuss things on this forum?
WI law uses "reasonable believes."
That's technically better, IMO. Some people are quite fearless, and they get to defend themselves too.
Most people try to figure this out by putting themselves in plaintiff's shoes. Would they want to be able to use force if in that spot? If yes, then the juror will find use of force to be reasonable.
Binger is mangling self defense law on purpose. It's a shame. it misinforms the public. Provocation is NOT justification to use or threaten the use of force. The ONLY justification to use force is if you reasonably believe the other guy is going to use force.
"A person is privileged to threaten or intentionally use force against another for the purpose of preventing or terminating what the person reasonably believes to be an unlawful interference with his or her person by such other person."
Well I shall not shut up nor go to the back of the room.
But you may continue your obvious hatred.
I will discuss the matter with the more intelligent in this room.
I’m sorry - I thought I had seen a post of yours where you called yourself ‘a guy’.
And I didn’t say anything about you being ‘afraid of guns’.
“I’m afraid for my life! Gosh, I sure wish I could do something to protect myself, but ADA Binger says I have no justification. Okay, I guess I’ll die. Sigh!”
Very well said, I think that is the situation also, and fully agree with those points.
Huh? I am not warning people. Just expressing my opinion.
It was Kyle Rittenhouse himself that agreed to let the prosecution bring in lesser charges. He had an absolute right to veto that, but he did not.
That should read that the prosecution, they spent so much time and money persecuting Kyle
Not a good move in my opinion.
Or perhaps the defense should have counter offered to allow them to add the Lesser charge of driving without a license.
;^)
He shot and killed two people while wounding a 3rd...
Who were all trying to kill him.
He had more right to be there than the rioters did. He was protecting property while they were trying to destroy it.
Your moral equivalency fails on so many levels it’s kind of embarrassing.
If you were somewhere that you were legally able to be, for what ever reason, and someone chased you to the point you were about to be overcome, would you be willing to use lathal force to protect yourself?
You didn’t James.
I might have called myself a guy but in my response to you I was replying to a guy you were replying to.
Welcome to FreeRepublic where, even though I am emotionally and intellectually weak, I HAVE been around for a while.
So no apology needed.
No apology needed from those insulting me. I trust that there are folks in here that know me and like me.
If you don’t, you have that right.
But you really don’t have a right to tell me to go watch soap operas or to go away, or get to the back or the room.
How does telling those that disagree with you to disappear any worse than what the liberals do?
Only they call it “woke”.
No offense, but one does not need read anything but your own comments to determine that.
I am so sorry I embarrassed you.
I KNOW that KR was practicing self-defense and I do not think he should be put in jail.
I’ve said that many times but I’m done.
Try reading the posts.
And again, sorry I embarrassed you.
Prosecutor objected to being called a liar. Judge allows it, “it’s argument.”
Judge just said you can both talk for 8 hours. Prosecution is going to take him up on that.
