The U.S. Census Bureau's Household Pulse Survey, which focuses on households' socio-economic status, found Seattle is the most anxious metro in the U.S.
In the survey, conducted between Sept. 29 and Oct. 11, 54.5% of the adult population across King, Pierce, and Snohomish counties, or about 1.8 million people, said they were "nervous, anxious, or on edge" for at least several days last month. Other cities that made it in the top three were Houston and Boston.

Here's the question people were asked:
Unlike other census data, the Household Pulse Survey is high-frequency data that captures how people feel economically and socially every few weeks. Even though we're only concentrated on one question, the survey asks many questions about education, employment, food sufficiency, household spending, housing security, and physical and mental health.
The data helps officials and lawmakers develop policies to support people impacted by the virus pandemic. The last 18 or so months have been extremely stressful for households. That's why there is a question about anxiety in the survey.
Seattle ranked number one or two on the list since summer as it appears the metro area's adults are experiencing high anxiety symptoms. In other words, Seattle is the most stressed-out city in the country. This could only mean one thing. Anxiety is due to economic hardship, though the survey didn't ask about the cause of stress.
The broader part of the top 15 metros that are the most anxious could be due to soaring inflation, from gasoline to food to shelter, which has crushed sentiment and leaves working poor feeling very uncertain about their economic future. We must note about 20% of Americans had their savings wiped out over the last year, and many are unemployed.
This data could be helpful to forecast where social instabilities may break out when spring comes around.
They would follow Fauci into a bottomless pit.
Not only one thing. There's a certain anxiety that results from street violence that has nothing to do with economics. A government that acts against the interests of its public acts against all of them, not just the economic ones.
SCORE, the dictatorship of the Oligarchy is on target. Confused, anxious and unsettled is where they want us. Frightened of a virus, wearing masks, surgically and chemically altering children and teaching our kids how to have sex in all its glories beginning at age 4? Perfection.
Lawless city with woke undertones, high taxes, and massive traffic.
Sounds about right.....
The fact that the government has the resources to collect this data means there is too much government.
Why wouldn’t they be anxious seeing as how they voted to make themselves ground zero for every crazy in the country to come and burn up their city . . . hard to tell which side is crazier.
It made me throw up.
Houston #2?
In my experience, this is a really laid back city.
Well, yeah.
It probably has something to do with all the drive-by shootings, murders, arsons, theft, and drug addicts camped out on the sidewalks and backyards.
Might have something to do with a dictator governor who fired a bunch of people for not getting vaxxed too.
Most the troublemakers there are hired activists seeded about for command and control of the woke army. The actual residents of Seattle are not happy about it at all.
The city has an overwhelmingly leftist ambiance, and the left operates on constant fear: fear of climate change, fear of Covid, fear of “white-supremacy”, fear of Republicans, fear of Christians - fear, fear, fear. It is an area of little faith, so the Void is always looming.
Must be all the coffee.
Good points. It is sad.
“Not only one thing.”
True that. People get anxious when they see the social order crumbling around them. Some Seattleites have figured out that law enforcement now ignores and/or protects criminals and has put its front sights on law abiding citizens.
Also, the most stupid people in America.
All shithole big cities! Suffer you scum!
Welcome to Free Republic!
I work in Seattle. Trust me....the anxiety has nothing to do with economic worries.
People there are anxious because they place all their hopes for a happy life in a 3rd party that is the leftist political class.
Since happiness is found within no amount of panning off or outsourcing it is going to help.....and the more they seek others to make it happen the less happy and more anxious they will become.
