OLD TOWN, Maryland — This ancient colonial town nestled along the north branch of the Potomac River could not be more different than the upscale suburbs of Chevy Chase located much closer to the tidal portion.
While both are in the same state, this town of 86 people is more culturally connected to the people and places in West Virginia and Pennsylvania close to this region than the D.C. suburb located in the center of wealth and power in this country.
Yet they do share one recently developing commonality that has gone under the radar of the national press that tells the story of a state, and by default, a country so disapproving of the president and the Democrats that even the bluest of blue-state voters can’t pretend anymore that things are going well.
With a border Biden has refused to visit, crippling inflation that he initially dismissed as temporary, and a broken supply chain that has affected every segment of our lives and our economy, Biden is widely seen by voters as negligent on all of those issues.

I don’t care if Biden visits or takes up permanent residence at the border, not bothering to visit is not the problem, opening the border is the problem.
Biden is pursuing an immoral and illegal policy.
Does not matter in any state wide election in Maryland. WHATEVER the deficit in votes, Baltimore will fraudulently cover. Why wouldn’t they? Who on earth could or would stop them?
not to worry....the Ruby Freeman’s will save the dimocrats
Of course it being open is the problem. The point that he won’t even visit the border is far more telling that he does not even recognize the problem at all and doesn’t want to.
"Human Infrastructure" is the latest name for welfare.
A bill so massively outside the norms of a traditional infrastructure bill is not why people voted for Biden, and anyone who says otherwise is peddling spending pornography. Biden, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer would know that if they took the time to listen. But they don’t.
Because they think that giving out Government goodies will get them votes. I would luv to say they are wrong on that, but history has shown otherwise.
I think states need to pass laws that say only citizens are eligible for welfare, and although the SCOTUS says we are required to provide education, it didn’t say how, no we need to have illegals schools where they need to be taught in their own language. The Feds can’t spend state funds. If the Feds shut down funds, shut down those schools.
MD is 1.75 miles wide at its narrowest and west of that is between red PA and WV. Those 2 counties and the 1 to the east have expressed an interest in leaving and should have already left for WV—at least using the precedent that the VA counties used to create WV.
Good luck with that.
As it is, there’s been talk in WV about ceding the Eastern pan handle to VA. It’s really little more than a bedroom community for DC.
All this is nothing more than noise...nobody is ceding or changing anything without force of arms and that ain’t happenin’!
It seems the purpose of this article is to prop up Hogan and get him some publicity.
“there’s been talk in WV about ceding the Eastern pan handle to VA”
I hope Hardy County isn’t part of that talk. Too close for comfort...
No. It’s the other way around. These counties want to secede to WV from VA.
Yep...the demonic-rat party will drag out the results till they can cover the deficit in their favor as always.
Hell Western Maryland has wanted to leave Maryland and go to West Virginia for at least 20 years.
Ping!
