Acts of brazen disregard for ordinary citizens are becoming all too commonplace in government these days. To some extent, we expect this from Washington, D.C., where contempt for the challenges many Americans face now knows no bounds. However, it is increasingly troubling to see that attitude permeate local government.
I was struck by Broad + Liberty’s recent coverage of a secret effort by left-leaning private organizations to influence election administration in Democratic-leaning counties by working exclusively with Democrat officials in the run up to the 2020 presidential contest. Yeah, especially when you consider all the sh!tty things invented by white guys in the last century. Like the automobile, airplanes, space flight, satellites, computers, cell phones, the internet.
Or how about professional sports: Football, baseball, basketball, hockey, soccer, golf, volleyball, track and field, skiing, surfing, skate boarding, tennis, and on and on and on.
By the time the burnouts could be expelled (age 16) it calmed down a lot...then we had to deal with the "ever-present football player-rapist" et al who could get away with murder from the "look the other way for the cool kids but the weirdos were a problem" Administration. In contrast, the handful of minority students were ok.
One cool thing at UDHS back then was that they had a smoking area, where the kids AND teachers could fire up Marlboros with impunity. All they had to do was stick to the outside smoking area and police the butts. It was an amazingly libertarian way of handling smoking, and it kept the bathrooms clean and free of violence.
I’ll take Cappalletti over Fey any day.
