Police say US actor Alec Baldwin fired a prop gun that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and wounded director Joel Souza on a film set in New Mexico. They were working on the film Rust.
Tributes have been paid to Ms Hutchins, 42, while Mr Baldwin is said to be distraught. One local paper found him in tears outside Santa Fe County Sheriff's Office.
An investigation is under way and we don't yet know what went wrong. A spokesman for Mr Baldwin said there had been an accident on the set involving the misfire of a prop gun with blanks.
Such incidents are rare and the news has stunned the film industry. The use of firearms on set is subject to stringent safety standards.

Never give a loaded gun to an imbecile. Even my kids know that.
Everybody keeps posting that, but you often MUST point a gun at someone else when making a movie. Somebody screwed up biggly unless there was malice at work here.
Alec Baldwin, who knows everything, knows nothing about guns. Thus he pointed a gun with blanks in it at another human being and killed her. Of course he will blame the guns, not his abysmal ignorance. After all, no liberal is ever wrong about anything, no matter how much damage they cause. This is why every parent should teach gun safety, even if they are anti-gun.
Sorry but that bullet fatally went right through that woman and struck another man. Baldwin had to be very close, aim it right at her and fired. Suspect he was unsuccessfully hitting on her and “pretended” to shoot her in his frustrated passion. Very much doubt the New Mexico cops, who are under the control of Democratic politicos, will do a thorough honest investigation of Hollywood, liberal icon Baldwin.
Alex Baldwin has a target on his back and it might not be the one you’re thinking of. The Lord has his number and sooner of later, he’ll receive Jesus I believe, and this may be the spark that lights the flame. Sometimes we are brought to the Lord at the end of our rope.
An influencing guy like that who undergoes such radical change as a Christian could be a big help in these days.
I remember a few years ago when an actor put a stage pistol with planks to his temple and pulled trigger on the set and yeah killed himself. Also I remember with Tom selleck when bizerk on set of a Blue Bloods when someone pointed an empty gun at him>

I want to know why he was aiming a prop gun at the director and camera person? Sounds like he should never touch a fire arm prop or real. Hell. my grandkids know better than that idiot .

I was under the impression that in the past couple of years they use CGI to make fake guns look like they are being fired.
I was taught that you never point a weapon at something you don’t wish to destroy. I taught my kids the same thing. This should have never happened.
How does a blank round go through a person and then seriously wound another??

What are prop guns doing with live ammo? Isn’t that for special effects to do?
