If I was an artist, I would figure out some titles for each of the windows and only charge $5k per window to add a title and signature (perhaps etched in each damaged window pane) and claim it as modern art.

All of this is so very sad. Seattle was a lovely nice place to live when I lived there in the early 70s. Gone now, replaced with dystopian squalor. Seattle is now only fit to be seen from several miles distant, the rear view mirror, an airplane at altitude.
didn’t the voters in Seatle vote for democrats? They get what they voted for and now they are complaining, but they’ll turn right around and vote democrat again in the next election.
Maybe they could use the late fees on returned books to repair the damage...oh wait.
It began when the government got rid of vagrancy laws. When they did that the free museums started charging a fee which kept the vagrants out.
But Public Libraries and their Air Conditioning became a sudden magnet for the bums.
I remember going to a major library not far from here and every chair or couch had a bum sleeping on it.
They had to close the third floor because of an infestation o f bedbugs.
We had similar problems in the Queens (NY) public library in the 1960's. Thugs used to hang in the library and try to shake down patrons.
I work at a college library. We often get visitors wanting to avoid public libraries because of the homeless.
This has been a problem with public libraries ever since the homeless were deinstitutionalized. I saw drunks, perverts, screaming lunatics.
Some people have blamed the current caliber of librarians, who tend to be extremely liberal (LGBT predominates.) They’re too wimpy to force these people out.
