While voters across Texas submitted voter registration applications on Monday, Oct. 4, ahead of the Nov. 2 statewide election, 82-year-old Elmira Hicks worried she would not be able to have her vote counted.

The Oakwood, Texas, native said she hasn't been able to renew her driver’s license for more than a year because she has been unable to present the required birth certificate needed to verify her identity.

In the Lone Star State, election laws require voters to present a driver's license, passport, military identification card, citizenship certificate, state election identification certificate or a personal identification card to cast a ballot in person.

A person does not need an ID to register to vote, or to vote by mail in the state of Texas.

Very few people have any problems. Democrats could spend a $100,000 on each person having an ID problem to fix it - and still not make a dent in the many millions they spend fighting voter ID.

Can’t she use her expired drivers license as ID to renew her DL?

Why is it that when one person dies from the COVID-29 vaccine, it's brushed aside as an anomaly, that one person out of 1 million shows that the vaccine is working.

But when one woman out of million cannot find her way to vote, the system is unfair and broken instead of also working?

Well, my husband is a registered Republican and went to vote in the 2012 election and someone had already voted democrat in his name and HE WAS NOT ALLOWED TO VOTE.

SO, WHO GIVES A CRAP ABOUT ANY VOTES WHEN THE ELECTIONS ARE RIGGED AND OR STOLEN ANYWAY.

So we are to believe she can't get one of these? Such a BS article

Did he take the local elections board to court, did he call a lawyer, did he protest at full volume so that the other voters knew what was going on, did he call the local papers and make a stink?

Because I sure would have. They would have been so embarrassed and ridiculed by the time I had made that a national story, they would have done anything to shut me up.

And before you say you can’t, there is Epoch news, there is Project veritas, there a re a dozen different groups which would help nationalize that story. The candidates themselves would have wanted to know, it would have given them more ammo to use in a forced recount.

If you read the article, it is clear that there is a process for this scenario. She would be able to vote in person and definitely vote by mail. Just stirring the pot.

That's bullsh!t. You don't need a birth certificate in Texas to renew your drivers license!

Here is a list of the acceptable forms of photo ID:

Texas Driver License issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS)
Texas Election Identification Certificate issued by DPS
Texas Personal Identification Card issued by DPS
Texas Handgun License issued by DPS
United States Military Identification Card containing the person’s photograph
United States Citizenship Certificate containing the person’s photograph
United States Passport (book or card)

Here is a list of the supporting forms of ID that can be presented if the voter does not possess one of the forms of acceptable photo ID and cannot reasonably obtain one:

copy or original of a government document that shows the voter’s name and an address, including the voter’s voter registration certificate;
copy of or original current utility bill;
copy of or original bank statement;
copy of or original government check;
copy of or original paycheck; or
copy of or original of (a) a certified domestic (from a U.S. state or territory) birth certificate or (b) a document confirming birth admissible in a court of law which establishes the voter’s identity (which may include a foreign birth document).
After presenting one of the forms of supporting ID listed above, the voter must execute a Reasonable Impediment Declaration.

We renew ours online, can even update our photo if needed. Texas is pretty easy to deal with, but I don’t know what regs apply to older drivers. I wonder if the ‘reporter’ bothered to check with DPS to see what had to be done. I used a utility bill to prove my residency/address.
