Messaging app WhatsApp, as well as social media platforms Instagram and Facebook have crashed for users worldwide. The outage started around 11:44 EDT in the United States and continues at this writing.

I was on FB for a while, then went to GAB, and back to FB.It was down and is still down. No great loss.
GAB is still up and running as FR.

Tried getting a DNS lookup for facebook.com on 8.8.8.8 and got
** server can't find facebook.com: SERVFAIL
and
** server can't find www.facebook.com: SERVFAIL.
Very unusual for a company like Facebook to screw up like this and even moreso for the outage to last so long (over an hour, I've heard).
