KEY POINTS A phase 3 trial of Merck and Ridgeback Biotherapeutics’ oral antiviral treatment molnupiravir showed it reduced the risk of hospitalization or death by around 50% in Covid patients. Merck plans to seek emergency use authorization in the U.S. and submit marketing applications to other global drug regulators. If authorized by regulatory bodies, molnupiravir could be the first oral antiviral medicine for Covid. “The company, when they briefed us last night, had mentioned that they will be submitting their data to the FDA imminently,” White House chief medical advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci said at a Covid briefing Friday.

A guy on Glenn Beck’s radio show said these pills cost $70.00 each.
He also said that with a Walgreen’s coupon and by logging on to GoodRx, you could buy an Ivermectin tablet for 15 cents!
He mentioned hydroxychloroquine, too. He also said that recently, Merck tried to discredit Ivermectin and hydroxycloroquine. Now we know why.
I remember reading that people who went to hospitals in Mexico City with mild symptoms of the Chinese Virus were sent home with Covid-19 kits.
Those kits reduce the rate of hospitalization by 50% in the Mexican capital.
I’ve gone through the report carefully.
The problems not addressed, and the report may have missed doing so, are:
1) More than anything else, there is an impression that they categorized their risk factors equally. This could lead to pill group having lots of obese and diabetic — and placebo group having mostly over 60s. Being old is likely far more deadly than obese or diabetic and this would make the placebo group seem to die more often.
2) The numbers are small. 770 samples, divided by 2 for about 385 in each group. It’s not enough to divide up the health risk factors and be sure equal numbers of those are in each group.
3) 50% effective is not really all that impressive. Their numbers say 14% of unvaxed, infected with symptoms and with a risk factor are flat out going in the hospital. 7% of pilled group is, too. This is not all that marvelous. It’s not like penicillin treating bacteria.

Seriously though all the manufactures claimed the vaccine woudl be the end all be all, and everyone woudl be fine if they just got vaxxed once- (Which likely convinced many to get it thinking it woudl be just one and done) then twice, now a third time- etc-

That is good to hear. In my case it has only been used as a prophylactic. Something that Merck’s new drug is apparently not being recommended for.
