The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is surveilling America by launching a “Funded Surveillance” program called “Firearm Injury Surveillance Through Emergency Rooms (FASTER).”
This is a highly concerning development for gun owners, considering the federal government’s well-known desire to push gun control measures, monitor gun owners, and generally attack the Second Amendment in the United States. Now, the CDC is paying for states to “provide surveillance data in near-real time” on firearm injuries in emergency rooms.
The CDC states: “CDC’s Division of Violence Prevention is funding 10 state health departments (up to $225,000 per recipient) as part of a competitively funded initiative to provide surveillance data in near-real time on emergency visits for nonfatal firearm injuries. CDC awarded a total of $2,224,482 distributed among the 10 recipients. Recipients will be funded for 3 years (09/01/2020-08/31/2023).” The CDC’s “Recipients” include:
District of Columbia Department of Health
Florida Department of Health
Georgia Department of Public Health
New Mexico Department of Health
North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services
Oregon Health Authority Public Health Division
Utah Department of Health
Virginia Department of Health
Washington State Department of Health
West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources
The CDC states: “Timely state- and local-level data on emergency department visits for nonfatal firearm injuries are currently limited. The collection of near-real-time data on emergency department visits for nonfatal firearm injuries overall and by intent (intentional self-directed, unintentional, and assault-related) can support state and local jurisdictions in identifying and responding to emerging public health problems. Efforts under this initiative will also result in tools and methods that can be used by state and local health departments around the nation to rapidly track and respond to firearm injuries.”
Fully expect new health care measures and miss information managers to dominate the US landscape.
The French put up a bigger fight and we did
#ing Rat CDC going after 2A
Wonder what they’ll find. Perhaps that firearm injuries are grossly overexaggerated?
This is the same chick at the CDC who issued the “eviction mortarium” as a “public health” issue.
They will find whatever they are looking for. None of these centers in Chicago or Baltimore?
Are they going to build a similar “injury/death surveillance” program for overdoses from all the heroin, fentanyl and meth coming over the southern border.
A betting person would say that the numbers of the latter will far outweigh the numbers of the former.
Sounds like a good way to bring down ‘Rat Urban Utopia fascist gov’ts.
Will they be cataloging knife wounds?
What? Chicago too busy for them?
And all this time I thought CDC stood for Centers for Disease Control.
Maybe they need to change it to the CGC. Centers for Gun Control.
I really hate our government.
A question for the Center for Disease Control (CDC)
WHAT DISEASE IS A GUN?
What disease is a thug shooting someone and making all legal firearms owners victims of government interference?
What disease is a pregnant woman who wants to kill a baby through an abortion? (”health” under the budget for health care).
CDC-——mind your own “disease” business.
just make sure when you shoot someone that they go to the morgue instead of the ER.
They will find that they have to suppress the statistics they compile... from the Chicago Hospitals, along with those of all the other Blue cities. They have tried to rationalize away those homicide statistics up till now, what are they going to do when they realize they have built their “Gun Injury ‘Surveillance’ Program” directly atop their anti 2nd Amendment agenda? Memory fades, but stupid is forever!
A cutting remark but they deserved it.
Accidental firearm injuries and deaths are nearly non-existent. For instance there were 458 accidental gun deaths in 2020. Compare that to 38K+ traffic deaths. Or to the ~393 million guns Americans admit to owning.
And I suspect a few of the accidental firearm deaths are suicides.
So I don’t think they will actually be counting accidental firearm injuries and death.
It’s a Liberal Mental Disease.
For Chicago the Supercomputer showed a red screen after the first morning: "Memory Capacity Exceeded. Memory Full. Overload Warning."
Sounds more like “FISTER” than “FASTER”.
