Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Mark Milley on Wednesday said there is “a real possibility” that al Qaeda or ISIS could reconstitute in Afghanistan as soon as early spring 2022.
Milley said the terrorist threat from Afghanistan is currently less than it was on 9/11, but that “the conditions could be set for a reconstitution of al Qaeda and/or ISIS.”
“It's a real possibility in the not too distant future, six, 12, 18, 24, 36 months, that kind of timeframe, for reconstitution of al Qaeda or ISIS,” he told lawmakers at a House Armed Services Committee hearing.

And in other news the sun should rise in the morning
But wait ... let me guess ... “They’ll be mostly-peaceful terrorists”?
Like the German Generals after WW II blaming everything bad on Hitler. With a few exceptions, the Generals actually approved of most of Hitler’s actions, including the invasion of Russia.
“Is Milley stupid or merely obtuse?”
Yes. One does not preclude the other in the least.
News flash. The terrorist groups are ALREADY in control and well equipped with high-tech weaponry as well, so count on it, they will not need until next spring to have their strategies and targets all lined up.
Just waiting for good weather.
Beyond a doubt we have imported terrorist cadre from Afghanistan.
But I can’t believe, with our porous southern border, and air service to pretty much anywhere in the ME, that we don’t have a bunch of terrorist cadre members in the US. Still nothing particularly large has happened.
I would have expected an attack on a school or a Walmart by now.
And when they do, he'll be sure to let China know immediately.
(GEN)Milley is an employee of the Military Arms Manufacturers.
He did them a huge favor by leaving arms, ammo, Helos, trucks and airplanes! I’ll bet he was rewarded.
President Eisenhower warned us about the “Military/Industrial complex!” Doesn’t everyone see that the warning has been ignored? The cost is in Billions of dollars and thousands of lives, given by young men and women. (and I’m not happy about women being in combat)
The USA is in trouble when we can’t leave the battlefield with honor and LEAVE NO AMERICANS IN HARMS WAY!
….because the TALIBAN is not a terrorist group…
Then it’s probably a good idea to not let them come here.
The same group that already blew up all those people 200+ on his watch? 🤪
They are there now, you ditz!................................
Well let him go there with his family. It’s not our problem and we have had enough of our troops killed.
why would the terrorist groups need to rebuild if there are no american troops there to battle with?
They’re there now with their new arsenal.
Heh. Used all 3 in 1 sentence.
Based on the testimony yesterday, this seems to be a case where they didn’t agree with him. And there doesn’t seem to be any pushback from the White House on this, either.
So the stimulus is working.
/Leftthink
And he walks free while Lt. Col Scheller is behind prison bars. This is the world we live in.
Milley is neither stupid or obtuse. He is a corrupt snake, a traitor making millions off you and I (Oh of course he will “sweat” through the sham hearings to make us think he is “SORRY” and afterwards head up the lecture circuits)
In the meantime, an honorable man like Lt. Col Scheller who pointed out the incompetence of Milley and those snakes like him who engineered this sickening catastrophe walk free making their money and climbing political ladders.
I can only imagine what the Russian and Chinese generals are thinking about now, after watching the Kabul debacle and Milley’s song and dance for Congress
“Milley: ‘Real possibility’ terrorist groups could rebuild as soon as early spring in Afghanistan”
I guess the women’s studies programs we implemented while there did not take hold. Maybe, next time, instead of educating their women, we should kill their terrorists and leave them there with the rubble as a reminder. Works every time in that part of the world and it does not cost much
