Milley: 'Real possibility' terrorist groups could rebuild as soon as early spring in Afghanistan

Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Mark Milley on Wednesday said there is “a real possibility” that al Qaeda or ISIS could reconstitute in Afghanistan as soon as early spring 2022.

Milley said the terrorist threat from Afghanistan is currently less than it was on 9/11, but that “the conditions could be set for a reconstitution of al Qaeda and/or ISIS.”

“It's a real possibility in the not too distant future, six, 12, 18, 24, 36 months, that kind of timeframe, for reconstitution of al Qaeda or ISIS,” he told lawmakers at a House Armed Services Committee hearing.

The are already "rebuilt". They were never "unbuilt". Afghans have been cutting off heads left and right, hanging people, raping little bacha bazi boys. But now they have received a jackpot bonus of billions of dollars of military aid from the USA.

I think some of those generals aren't too happy at them rather than Biden taking the lumps for how Afghanistan ended. Seems like they told Biden there weren't enough troops, told him the country would fall if he withdrew all our troops, and he did it anyway.

So what they're doing now is essentially going public with the likely consequences of that withdrawal, implicitly blaming it on Biden.

Aside from the US and China, $85 billion is the most any other nation spends on defense annually. Russia comes in 4th with $79.5 billion per year. We just made the Taliban into one of the best armed nations on the planet.

Leaving a backward moslem nation does not mean you will stay out.

Look at Britain in 1842, driven out of Afghanistan, but soon had to go back in.

And the Sudan, 1885 when the Mahdi took Khartoum and massacred every Englishman and Egyptian in the city. The British had to go back in for another twenty years of wars in the Sudan.

Now we have been driven out of Afghanistan due to Biden the Incompetent, and no doubt we will soon have to go back in when new terrorists organizations arise. We will be facing our own weapons due to Biden’s incompetence.
