Beau and I both run 'hot' so a cooler house is fine with us. 58 at night and usually 62 during the day.

Good gawd I'd freeze to death. Add 10 to that and I'm good. I'm skinny and have zero insulation. We have regional predictors here, folk tales mostly. One year I heard lots of akerns (acorns)mean a long winter, didn't happen. Persimmon seeds cut just the right way will show a knife, fork or spoon pattern and spoon(shovel) means lots of snow, didn't happen. This year, tons of acorns and hickory nuts yet we're just over two weeks out from the First Frost date and it was 89 degrees today.

The first two years we lived in MO were heat wave summer with temps over 100, not predicted(and we had no A/C). The third year was our first on this property and it snowed on the wife's birthday, first week of May, not predicted.

The only prediction today that will come true is things are not going to get better. That's because the dems are in office, repubs are silent(obama 3.0) and the entire globe is all in for something and it won't be good for a lot of us.

“I’m skinny and have zero insulation.”

Wish I could say the same about us, so I’d better just say, ‘No Comment!’ LOL! :)

I guess I should clarify that we have a southern exposure in the Family Room, and the south side is nothing but a large bank of windows. On a sunny Winter day, it’s WAY more than 62 degrees in there.

Also, I have been known to set the oven to, ‘warm’ and crack the door open. The kitchen is MY domain and I spend a crazy-amount of time in there between cooking, baking, laundry, preserving and sitting at the kitchen counter crocheting and watching cooking shows or true crime dramas. The kitchen/pantry/laundry was an add-on to ‘This Old House’ and there is just a crawl space below in desperate need of more insulation.

But, that’s a job for a ‘skinny guy’...and they are hard to find up here on The Frozen Tundra. ;)

The Old Farmer’s Almanac, said the upcoming winter will be historic for its deeply cold temperatures.

* “This coming winter could well be one of the longest and coldest that we’ve seen in years,”

This winter will be punctuated by positively bone-chilling, below-average temperatures across most of the United States
